Siege of Leeds Castle

In Oct 1321 Isabella Capet Queen Consort England was returning from Canterbury to London. She sought accommodation at Leeds Castle which was under the protection of Margaret Clare Baroness Badlesmere the wife of Bartholomew Badlesmere 1st Baron Badlesmere. Margaret Clare Baroness Badlesmere refused entry to the Queen killing around six of her retinue when they tried to force entry. Edward II King England commenced the Siege of Leeds Castle. Once Edward II King England gained possession of the castle, he had the garrison hanged from the battlements.
