Battle of Nájera

On 03 Apr 1367 the forces of Peter "Cruel" I King Castile commanded by Edward "Black Prince" Plantagenet Prince Wales defeated the army of Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile at the Battle of Nájera at Nájera. The English forces included John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster, John Ferrers 3rd Baron Ferrers Chartley, William Scrope, Peter Courtenay, John Devereux 1st Baron Devereux and Thomas Banastre. The forces of Henry "Fratricide" II King Castile included Bertrand Geusclin. The battle achieved little since Bertrand Geusclin escaped.

On 15 Apr 1367 Henry IV King England was born to John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster and Blanche Plantagenet Duchess Lancaster at Bolingbroke Castle.

In 1368 Isabel Lancaster was born to John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster and Blanche Plantagenet Duchess Lancaster.

She being the younger sister of Constance of Castile who had married Edmund's older brother John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster a year before.

In 1379 Joan Beaufort Countess Westmoreland was born to John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster and Katherine Roet Duchess Lancaster at Château de Beaufort.

In 1380 Thomas Erpingham joined John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster 's service as an Esquire.

Around 1380 Thomas Erpingham was knighted by John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster.

On 13 Jan 1396 John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster and Katherine Roet Duchess Lancaster were married at Lincoln Cathedral. Katherine Roet Duchess Lancaster by marriage Duchess Lancaster (2C 1362).

On 03 Feb 1399 John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster died at Leicester Castle;Katherine Roet Duchess Lancaster was by his side. He was buried at Old St Paul's Cathedral. Richard II King England witheld the future Henry IV's inheritance from him giving the future Henry IV reason to return to England to claim his lands and titles.

Southampton Plot

On 31 Jul 1415, when Henry V King England was in Portchester Castle preparing to invade France, Edmund Mortimer 5th Earl March, 7th Earl Ulster revealed the Southampton Plot to him. Henry Scrope 3rd Baron Scrope Masham, Thomas Grey, and Richard York 1st Earl Cambridge were intending to replace Henry V King England with Edmund Mortimer 5th Earl March, 7th Earl Ulster as King of England based on Edmund Mortimer 5th Earl March, 7th Earl Ulster having a better claim to the throne being descended from Edward III's second son Lionel Plantagenet 1st Duke Clarence whereas Henry V King England was descended from the third son John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster.
Robert Willoughby 6th Baron Willoughby Eresby, Richard Vere 11th Earl Oxford, Thomas Montagu 1st Count Perche, 4th Earl Salisbury and Thomas Camoys 1st Baron Camoys sat in judgement.

After 1475. Monument to Alice Chaucer Duchess Suffolk. Wrist Garter in St Mary's Church. The effigy was, apparently, viewed to determine how a lady should wear the garter at the re-commencement of Lady of the Garter appointments in 1901 after a gap of several hundred years.
