Funeral of Piers Gaveston

On 02 Jan 1315 Piers Gaveston 1st Earl Cornwall was buried at King's Langley Priory in a lavish ceremony some two and a half years after his murder. On 10 Feb 1316 Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk was apppointed Earl Marshal.

Around 1320 Edward Plantagenet was born to Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk and Alice Hales Countess Norfolk.

Around 1324 Alice Plantagenet was born to Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk and Alice Hales Countess Norfolk.

Before 12 Oct 1326 Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk and Alice Hales Countess Norfolk were married. Alice Hales Countess Norfolk by marriage Countess Norfolk (3C 1312).

Battle of Halidon Hill

On 19 Jul 1333 Edward III King England defeated the Scots army at the Battle of Halidon Hill near Berwick on Tweed. English archers, just as at the Battle of Dupplin Moor one year previously, had a significant impact on the massed ranks of Scottish schiltrons. Edward's army included: Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk, who commanded the right wing, Hugh Courtenay 9th Earl Devon, Robert Pierrepoint, Hugh Courtenay 10th Earl Devon, Henry Beaumont 4th Earl Buchan and John Sully. One of the few English casualties was John Neville who was killed. The Scottish army included David II King Scotland. Alexander Bruce, Alan Stewart, James Stewart, John Stewart, William Douglas 1st Earl Atholl, Archibald Douglas, Malcolm Lennox 2nd Earl Lennox, Hugh Ross 4th Earl Ross and Kenneth de Moravia Sutherland 4th Earl Sutherland who were all killed.

Before 04 Apr 1336 Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk and Mary Brewes Countess Norfolk were married. Mary Brewes Countess Norfolk by marriage Countess Norfolk (3C 1312).

On 04 Aug 1338 Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk died at Framlingham Castle. His daughter Margaret Plantagenet 2nd Countess Norfolk succeeded 2nd Earl Norfolk (3C 1312). Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk was buried at Bury St Edmund's Abbey.

Alice Beaumont-Roger inherited the Earldom of Warwick when her half-niece Margaret Beaumont-Roger 7th Countess Warwick died.
