Biography of Joseph Nollekens
After 1720. Monument to Peter Burrell 21st Baron Willoughby Eresby in Church of St Michael and All Angels sculpted by Joseph Nollekens. Freestanding square marble shaft bears a bust.
On 11 Aug 1737 Joseph Nollekens was born in 28 Dean Street.
After 17 Sep 1766 Bennett Noel was buried at the Church of St Peter and St Paul. After 07 Apr 1784 Elizabeth Adams was buried with her husband. Their monument was sculpted by Joseph Nollekens.
In 1770 Joseph Nollekens set up as a maker of busts and monuments in 9 Mortimer Street.
In 1787. Church of St Peter and St Paul. Joseph Nollekens sculpted the Monument to Baptist Noel 4th Earl Gainsborough, Elizabeth Chapman Countess Gainsborough and Thomas Noel.
After 1789. Holy Trinity Church. Monument to Maria Archer. Sculpted by Joseph Nollekens. He regarded it as his finest work; entitled Faith. This work is represented on the Nollekens Monument in Paddington Parish Church by William Behnes.
On 23 Apr 1823 Joseph Nollekens died.
From 1760 Joseph Nollekens studied under Peter Scheemakers in Rome.
