Around 1510 Thomas Bilney (age 15) entered Trinity Hall, Cambridge University.

Around 1520 John Frith (age 17) was educated at Eton College [Map] and after at Queen's College, Cambridge University [Map] where his tutor was Bishop Stephen Gardiner (age 37) who was subsequently involved in his trial. At Cambridge he met Thomas Bilney (age 25).

In 1525 Thomas Bilney (age 30) obtained a licence to preach throughout the diocese of Ely. He denounced saint and relic veneration, together with pilgrimages to Walsingham and Canterbury, and refused to accept the mediation of the saints.

In 1529 Thomas Bilney (age 34) was released from the Tower of London [Map]. Churches being no longer open to him, he preached openly in the fields, finally arriving in Norwich, where the bishop, Richard Nix (age 82), caused him to be arrested.

Wriothesley's Chronicle 1530-1539. 16 Aug 1531. This yeare was one burnt at Maidestone [Map] for heresie, and one Bylney (age 36),^g a priest, disgraded and burnt at Norwich, Norfolk [Map] for heresie.
