Worcester Cathedral - Prince Arthur's Chantry

Prince Arthur the eldest son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. He married Catherine of Aragon on 14 November 1501 at St Paul's Cathedral. Prince Arthur died some four months later on 02 April 1502 in Ludlow Castle. His funeral barge was pulled by six black horses up the Severn to Worcester where his body was interred, his parents commissioning this chantry. The presence of Prince Arthur's remains being the reason Worcester avoided dissolution, being converted from a priory church to a cathedral.
