Tomb of William of Hatfield, York Minster
William of Hatfield was the second son of Edward III and Philippa of Hainault, born 16 Feb 1337, dying shortly thereafter, the effigy being of a young boy rather than an infant. Hatfield some twenty miles or so south of York, near the Ouse, Trent and Humber. The two crests are of Hainault, being black and red lions quartered on a gold background, and England, being fleur-de-lys and lions quartered.
Edward and Philippa had been married at York Minster on 24 Jan 1328.
