Biography of Constance Villiers Countess Derby 1840-1922

In 1834 John Foster Barham and [her mother] Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon 1810-1874 (age 23) were married. She the daughter of James Walter Grimston 1st Earl Verulam (age 58) and Charlotte Jenkinson Countess Verulam.

On 22 Dec 1838 John Villiers 3rd Earl Clarendon 1757-1838 (age 81) died. His nephew [her father] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 38) succeeded 4th Earl Clarendon.

On 03 Jul 1839 [her father] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 39) and [her mother] Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon 1810-1874 (age 29) were married. She by marriage Countess Clarendon. She the daughter of James Walter Grimston 1st Earl Verulam (age 63) and Charlotte Jenkinson Countess Verulam.

In 1840 Constance Villiers Countess Derby was born to George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 39) and Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon 1810-1874 (age 29).

On 31 May 1864 Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 23) and Constance Villiers Countess Derby (age 24) were married. She the daughter of George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 64) and Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon 1810-1874 (age 54). He the son of Edward Smith-Stanley 14th Earl of Derby (age 65) and Emma Caroline Bootle-Wilbraham Countess Derby 1805-1876 (age 59).

On 04 Apr 1865 [her son] Edward George Villiers Stanley 17th Earl of Derby was born to [her husband] Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 24) and Constance Villiers Countess Derby (age 25) at 23 St James' Square.

On 27 Jun 1870 [her father] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 70) died. His son [her brother] Edward Villiers 5th Earl Clarendon 1846-1914 (age 24) succeeded 5th Earl Clarendon.

In 1874 [her mother] Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon 1810-1874 (age 63) died.

In 1874 [her son] Algernon Francis Stanley was born to [her husband] Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 32) and Constance Villiers Countess Derby (age 34).

On 21 Apr 1893 [her brother-in-law] Edward Henry Stanley 15th Earl of Derby 1826-1893 (age 66) died at Knowsley. His brother [her husband] Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 52) succeeded 16th Earl Derby, 10th Baronet Stanley of Bickerstaffe. On 14 Jun 1908 [her husband] Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 67) died. His son [her son] Edward George Villiers Stanley 17th Earl of Derby (age 43) succeeded 17th Earl Derby, 11th Baronet Stanley of Bickerstaffe. [her daughter-in-law] Alice Maude Olivia Montagu Countess Derby 1862-1957 (age 45) by marriage Countess Derby.

Times Newspaper Marriages. 22 Jun 1910. LORD ACHESON (age 33) AND MISS CARTER (age 22).

The marriage of Viscount Acheson (age 33), elder son of the Earl (age 68) and Countess of Gosford (age 54), and Miss Mildred Carter (age 22), only daughter of Mr. J. Ridgely Carter (age 46), American Minister to Rumania, and Mrs. Ridgely Carter (age 45), took place yesterday at St. George's, Hanover-square. The Sub-Dean of the Chapels Royal (the Rev. Edgar Sheppard, D.D.) performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. David Anderson and other clergy, and Mr. Ridgely Carter (age 46) gave his daughter away. She wore a very simple wedding gown of soft white satin with a long train draped with old point de Venise, and a Venetian lace cap over a spray of myrtle and orange blossom, covered by a plain tulle veil. Master David Stanley, Master Julian Ward, and Miss Diana Roberts, dressed all in white, followed the bride, and there were seven bridesmaids, Lady Theo Acheson (age 28) (sister of the bridegroom), Lady Victoria Stanley, Mlle. Irene deo La Grange, Miss Canilla Morgan, the Hon. Rhoda Astley, Miss Elsie Nicholl, and Miss Marian Scranton, who wore white chiffon dresses with draped bodices and wreaths of myrtle beneath tulle veils. They also wore diamond neckislides and carried loose bunches of red roses. The Hon. Patrick Acheson (age 26) was best man to his brother.
