Biography of Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon 1633-1678

On 28 Nov 1627 [her father] Arthur Capell 1st Baron Capell Hadham (age 19) and [her mother] Elizabeth Morrison Baroness Capell Hadham (age 16) were married.

In 1633 Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon was born to Arthur Capell 1st Baron Capell Hadham (age 24) and Elizabeth Morrison Baroness Capell Hadham (age 22).

On 06 Aug 1641 [her father] Arthur Capell 1st Baron Capell Hadham (age 33) was created 1st Baron Capell Hadham. [her mother] Elizabeth Morrison Baroness Capell Hadham (age 30) by marriage Baroness Capell Hadham.

First Battle of Newbury

On 20 Sep 1643 the First Battle of Newbury was fought at Newbury [Map] with King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 42) commanding the Royalist army and Robert Devereux 3rd Earl Essex (age 52) commanding the victorious Parliamentary army. For King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland (age 42) John Byron 1st Baron Byron (age 44) fought with distinction.
Henry Bertie was killed.
Robert Dormer 1st Earl Carnarvon 1610-1643 (age 33) was killed. His son [her future husband] Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 10) succeeded 2nd Earl Carnarvon, 3rd Baron Dormer of Wyng in Buckinghamshire, 3rd Baronet Dormer of Wyng in Buckinghamshire.
William Villiers 2nd Viscount Grandison (age 29) was killed. His brother John Villiers 3rd Viscount Grandison succeeded 3rd Viscount Grandison.
Edward Villiers (age 23) fought.
Lucius Carey 2nd Viscount Falkland (age 33) was killed. His son Lucius Carey 3rd Viscount Falkland (age 11) succeeded 3rd Viscount Falkland.
Richard Neville (age 28) served under the Earl Carnarvon (age 33). Carnarvon was killed and Neville took up the command as a Colonel of Horse.
Major General Charles Fleetwood (age 25) was wounded.

Execution of Three Lords

On 09 Mar 1649 at the Old Palace Yard three Royalist Lords were beheaded ...
[her father] Arthur Capell 1st Baron Capell Hadham (age 41) was beheaded. His son [her brother] Arthur Capell 1st Earl Essex (age 17) succeeded 2nd Baron Capell Hadham.
Henry Rich 1st Earl Holland (age 58) was beheaded. His son Robert Rich 5th Earl Warwick 2nd Earl Holland (age 30) succeeded 2nd Earl Holland. Elizabeth Ingram Countess Holland 1623-1661 (age 26) by marriage Countess Holland.
James Hamilton 1st Duke Hamilton (age 42) was beheaded. His brother William Hamilton 2nd Duke Hamilton 1616-1651 (age 32) succeeded 2nd Duke Hamilton, 3rd Earl Cambridge by special remainder.
John Owen (age 49) had been sentenced to death but was subsequently pardoned.

Before 25 Jun 1652 Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 19) and Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon (age 19) were married. She by marriage Countess Carnarvon. He the son of Robert Dormer 1st Earl Carnarvon 1610-1643 and Anne Sophia Herbert Countess Carnarvon. They were fourth cousins.

On 25 Jun 1652 [her son] Charles Dormer was born to [her husband] Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 19) and Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon (age 19).

In 1653 [her daughter] Elizabeth Dormer Countess Chesterfield 1653-1677 was born to [her husband] Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 20) and Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon (age 20) in Wing, Buckinghamshire.

On 27 Aug 1663 [her daughter] Isabella Dormer died.

After Jul 1665 [her son-in-law] Philip Stanhope 2nd Earl Chesterfield (age 31) and [her daughter] Elizabeth Dormer Countess Chesterfield 1653-1677 (age 12) were married. She by marriage Countess Chesterfield. She the daughter of Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 32) and Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon 1633-1678 (age 32). He the son of Henry Stanhope and Katherine Wotton Countess Chesterfield (age 56). They were third cousin once removed.

Before 1673 [her son] Charles Dormer (age 20) died.

In 1678 Elizabeth Capell Countess Carnarvon (age 45) died.

After 1678 [her former husband] Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 45) and Mary Bertie Countess Carnarvon 1655-1709 (age 23) were married. She by marriage Countess Carnarvon. The difference in their ages was 22 years. She the daughter of Montagu Bertie 2nd Earl Lindsey and Bridget Wray Countess Lindsey 1627-1657. He the son of Robert Dormer 1st Earl Carnarvon 1610-1643 and Anne Sophia Herbert Countess Carnarvon. They were third cousins.

On 29 Nov 1709 [her former husband] Charles Dormer 2nd Earl Carnarvon (age 77) died. Earl Carnarvon extinct. His second cousin Rowland Dormer 4th Baron Dormer (age 58) succeeded 4th Baron Dormer of Wyng in Buckinghamshire, 4th Baronet Dormer of Wyng in Buckinghamshire.
