Edith Latimer: Before 1479 John Greene and she were married. Around 1450 she was born to Nicholas Latimer and Joan Hody at Duntish, Dorset. Before 1475 John Mordaunt and she were married. The date somewhat unreliable. Her first husband John Greene is supposed to have died in 1483 which makes the date of her marriage to John Mordaunt and the birth of her sons by him unreliable? On 01 Sep 1504 Edith Latimer died at Turvey. She was buried at All Saints Church, Turvey.

Note. P. 292. Funeral of lord (not lady) Mordaunt. John first lord Mordaunt, summoned to parliament in 1558, died 28 Aug. 1562, at Turvey, co. Bedford, where he was buried, and a sumptuous monument erected with effigies of himself and lady, of which there is an engraving in Halstead's Genealogies, fol. 1785, p 593.

A curious monument to John Mordaunt 1st Baron Mordaunt (deceased) and Elizabeth Vere Baroness Mordaunt with effigies that appear correct for the time of death, Elizabethan Period, whereas the surrounding monument appears a hundred years later. The carving of his head and torso also appear somewhat out of date. No explanation for his missing right foot. Sculpted by T Kirkby.

Elizabeth Vere Baroness Mordaunt: she was born to Henry Vere. Before 1508 John Mordaunt 1st Baron Mordaunt and she were married. In 1529 John Mordaunt 1st Baron Mordaunt was created 1st Baron Mordaunt. She by marriage Baroness Mordaunt. Before 1561 she died.

In 1571 John Mordaunt 2nd Baron Mordaunt (age 63) died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Turvey [Map]. His son Lewis Mordaunt 3rd Baron Mordaunt (age 32) succeeded 3rd Baron Mordaunt.

On 02 Jun 1543 Ellen Fitzlewis (age 21) died. In Apr 1592 Joan Fermor (age 76) died.

Elizabethan Period monument with eight Doric Columns with John Mordaunt 2nd Baron Mordaunt (age 63) in an elevated position with a wife either side, each lying on a rush mat. All three wearing ruffs. .

Ellen Fitzlewis: In 1522 she was born to John Fitzlewis. Before 1538 John Mordaunt 2nd Baron Mordaunt and she were married.

Joan Fermor: Around 1516 she was born to Richard Fermor and Anne Browne. After 1543 John Mordaunt 2nd Baron Mordaunt and she were married.

On 16 Jun 1601 Lewis Mordaunt 3rd Baron Mordaunt (age 62) died at Drayton, Northamptonshire [Map]. His son Henry Mordaunt 4th Baron Mordaunt (age 34) succeeded 4th Baron Mordaunt.

He was buried at All Saints Church, Turvey [Map] where he has a black-painted alabaster pall and black marble slab. The Mordaunt crest appears to have changed to an African woman.

Henry Mordaunt 4th Baron Mordaunt: In 1567 he was born to Lewis Mordaunt 3rd Baron Mordaunt. Before 1608 Henry Mordaunt 4th Baron Mordaunt and Margaret Compton Baroness Mordaunt were married. She by marriage Baroness Mordaunt. She the daughter of Henry Compton 1st Baron Compton and Anne Spencer Countess Dorset. In 1608 Henry Mordaunt 4th Baron Mordaunt died. His son John Mordaunt 1st Earl Peterborough succeeded 5th Baron Mordaunt.
