He was buried in the north aisle of the Henry VII Chapel Westminster Abbey. His son William Savile 2nd Marquess Halifax 1665-1700 (30) succeeded 2nd Marquess Halifax, 2nd Earl Halifax 1C 1679, 2nd Viscount Halifax 1C 1677, 2nd Baron Savile of Elland, 5th Baronet Savile of Thornhill.
