On 19 Oct 1714 Thomas Pelham Holles 1st Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme (age 21) was created 1st Earl Clare and 1st Viscount Haughton with a special remainder to his brother Henry Pelham (age 20).

                    On 17 Nov 1768 Thomas Pelham Holles 1st Duke Newcastle-under-Lyme (age 75) died without issue. He was buried in the Pelham family vault at All Saint's Church, Laughton.
