On 08 Apr 1742 Henry St John 1st Viscount St John (age 89) died. He was buried at St Mary's Church Battersea, Surrey. His son John St John 2nd Viscount St John (age 39) succeeded 2nd Viscount St John, 5th Baronet St John Lydiard Tregoze in Wiltshire.

On 05 Jan 1893 Henry St John 5th Viscount Bolingbroke 6th Viscount St John (age 72) and Mary Emily Elizabeth Howard Viscountess Bolingbroke and St John were married at the Registry Office in Bath, Somerset [Map]. She by marriage Viscountess St John, Viscountess Bolingbroke. She had been his servant, subsequently housekeeper. The marriage was not revealed until after his death becoming something of a national scandal.

In Nov 1899 Henry St John 5th Viscount Bolingbroke 6th Viscount St John (age 79) died. His son Vernon Henry St John 6th Viscount Bolingbroke 7th Viscount St John (age 3) succeeded 7th Viscount St John, 6th Viscount Bolingbroke, 10th Baronet St John Lydiard Tregoze in Wiltshire although he was only recognised as such in 1926.
