The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1738 Charlotte Walpole Countess Dysart was born illegitimately to Edward Walpole (age 32) and Dorothy Clement (age 23).

Around 1739 [her mother] Dorothy Clement (age 24) died.

Around 1747. Unknown Painter. Portrait of the children of [her father] Edward Walpole (age 41): [her illegitimate sister] Laura, [her illegitimate sister] Maria (age 10), [her illegitimate brother] edward (age 10) and Charlotte (age 9).

Edward Walpole: In 1706 he was born to Robert Walpole 1st Earl Orford and Catherine Shorter. On 12th January 1784 Edward Walpole died. On 2nd March 1797 Horace Walpole 4th Earl Orford died unmarried. Earl Orford extinct. He left a life interest in his home Strawberry Hill House to his first-cousin once-removed Anne Seymour-Conway. After her death in 1828 the house was inherited by his great great nephew John James Waldegrave 6th Earl Waldegrave, great grandson of his brother Edward Walpole.

Laura Walpole: she was born illegitimately to Edward Walpole and Dorothy Clement. On 13th September 1758 Bishop Frederick Keppel and she were married. He the son of William Anne Keppel 2nd Earl Albermarle and Anne Lennox Countess Albermarle. On 27th July 1813 Laura Walpole died.

Edward Walpole: In 1737 he was born illegitimately to Edward Walpole and Dorothy Clement. In 1771 Edward Walpole died without issue.

On 2nd October 1760 Lionel Tollemache 5th Earl Dysart (age 26) and Charlotte Walpole Countess Dysart (age 22) were married. He the son of Lionel Tollemache 4th Earl Dysart (age 52) and Grace Carteret Countess Dysart.

On 10th March 1770 Lionel Tollemache 4th Earl Dysart (age 61) died. His son Lionel (age 35) succeeded 5th Earl Dysart, 6th Baronet Talmash of Helmingham in Suffolk. Charlotte Walpole Countess Dysart (age 32) by marriage Countess Dysart.
