Henry Howard: In 1592 he was born to Thomas Howard 1st Earl Suffolk and Catherine Knyvet Countess Suffolk in Henley In Arden, Warwickshire. Before 1616 Henry Howard and Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne were married. He the son of Thomas Howard 1st Earl Suffolk and Catherine Knyvet Countess Suffolk. Around 1616 Henry Howard died in Clun Castle. Around 1616 Henry Howard was buried at St Bartholomew's Church, Blore.

Catharine aka Elizabeth Howard: In or before 1616 she was born to Henry Howard and Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne.

On 07 Mar 1628 [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne (age 35) was created 1st Earl Newcastle upon Tyne. Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne (age 36) by marriage Countess Newcastle upon Tyne.

On 24 Jun 1630 [her son] Henry Cavendish 2nd Duke Newcastle upon Tyne was born to [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne (age 37) and Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne (age 38) at Handsworth Manor.

On 25 May 1632 William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury (age 88) died. His eldest son His brother Edward Knollys de jure 2nd Earl Banbury, 2nd Viscount Wallingford, 2nd Baron Knollys. Parliament disallowed the succession on the basis that Edward (age 5) had been born when William was some eighty-two years old and Edward was, in fact, the son of Edward Vaux 4th Baron Vaux Harrowden (age 43) whom Edward's [her former sister-in-law] mother (age 49) subsequently married around a month after William's death.

Gunpowder Plot

Around 30 Jun 1632 Edward Vaux 4th Baron Vaux Harrowden (age 43) and [her former sister-in-law] Elizabeth Howard Countess Banbury (age 49) were married some five weeks after the death of her first husband William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury (age 88) on 25 May 1632. They, Edward and Elizabeth, when teenagers, had been subject to marriage negotiations which broke down as a consequence of the Gunpowder Plot and she had married William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury some forty years her senior. She the daughter of [her former father-in-law] Thomas Howard 1st Earl Suffolk and [her former mother-in-law] Catherine Knyvet Countess Suffolk (age 68).

On 23 Aug 1632 [her former sister-in-law] Frances Howard Countess Essex and Somerset (age 42) died.

On 03 Jun 1640 [her former brother-in-law] Theophilus Howard 2nd Earl Suffolk (age 57) died at Suffolk House, Suffolk Street. He was buried at Waldon Priory and Abbey [Map]. On 03 Jun 1640 His son James Howard 3rd Earl Suffolk (age 21) succeeded 3rd Earl Suffolk, 3rd Baron Howard de Walden.

In 1641 [her son-in-law] John Egerton 2nd Earl Bridgewater (age 17) and [her daughter] Elizabeth Cavendish Countess Bridgewater (age 14) were married. She the daughter of [her husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne (age 48) and Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne (age 49). He the son of John Egerton 1st Earl Bridgewater (age 62) and Frances Stanley Countess Bridgewater. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Henry VII of England and Ireland. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward IV of England.

On 17 Apr 1643 Elizabeth Bassett Countess Newcastle upon Tyne (age 51) died at Bolsover, Derbyshire [Map].

In 1645 [her former husband] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne (age 52) and Margaret Lucas Duchess Newcastle upon Tyne (age 22) were married. The difference in their ages was 30 years. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward IV of England.
