Biography of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington 1737-1819

In 1736 [his father] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford [aged 20] and [his mother] Mary Booth Countess Stamford [aged 32] were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] George Booth 2nd Earl Warrington [aged 60] and [his grandmother] Mary Oldbury Countess Warrington [aged 54]. He the son of Henry Grey 3rd Earl Stamford [aged 50] and Dorothy Wright Countess Stamford [aged 51]. They were second cousin once removed.

On 1st October 1737 George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington was born to Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford [aged 22] and Mary Booth Countess Stamford [aged 33].

On 16th November 1739 [his grandfather] Henry Grey 3rd Earl Stamford [aged 54] died. His son [his father] Henry [aged 24] succeeded 4th Earl Stamford, 5th Baron Grey of Groby. [his mother] Mary Booth Countess Stamford [aged 35] by marriage Countess Stamford.

On 28th May 1763 George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 25] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 26] were married. She by marriage Countess Stamford. She the daughter of William Bentinck 2nd Duke Portland and Margaret Cavendish Harley 2nd Duchess Portland [aged 48]. He the son of Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford [aged 47] and Mary Booth Countess Stamford [aged 59].

In 1764 [his daughter] Henrietta Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 26] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 26]. She married 26th October 1785 John Chetwode 4th Baronet and had issue.

On 31st October 1765 [his son] George Grey 6th Earl Stamford 2nd Earl Warrington was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 28] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 28]. He married 23rd December 1797 Henrietta Charteris Countess Stamford and Warrington and had issue.

On 8th November 1766 [his brother-in-law] William Cavendish-Bentinck 3rd Duke Portland [aged 28] and Dorothy Cavendish 3rd Duchess Portland [aged 16] were married. She by marriage Duchess Portland. She the daughter of William Cavendish 4th Duke Devonshire and Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle Marchioness Hartington. He the son of William Bentinck 2nd Duke Portland and [his mother-in-law] Margaret Cavendish Harley 2nd Duchess Portland [aged 51]. They were half fourth cousins.

In 1767 [his daughter] Marie Grey died.

In 1767 [his daughter] Marie Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 29] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 29]. She died aged less than one years old.

On 30th May 1768 [his father] Henry Grey 4th Earl Stamford [aged 52] died at Enville Hall, Staffordshire. His son George [aged 30] succeeded 5th Earl Stamford, 6th Baron Grey of Groby.

In 1769 [his daughter] Maria Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 31] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 31]. She married 20th May 1794 John Cotes and had issue.

In 1771 [his daughter] Louisa Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 33] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 33].

On 10th December 1772 [his mother] Mary Booth Countess Stamford [aged 68] died.

In 1773 [his son] William Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 35] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 35].

In 1774 [his son] Anchitel Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 36] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 36].

In 1776 [his son] Henry Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 38] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 38].

In 1777 [his daughter] Sophia Grey was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 39] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 39]. She married 21st October 1809 her first cousin Booth Grey.

In 1779 [his daughter] Amelia Grey Lady Lister-Kaye was born to George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 41] and [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 41]. She married 18th October 1800 John Lister-Kaye 1st Baronet, son of John Lister-Kaye 5th Baronet, and had issue.

On 26th October 1785 [his son-in-law] John Chetwode 4th Baronet [aged 21] and Henrietta Grey [aged 21] were married. They had seven daughters and eight sons. She the daughter of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 48] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 48].

On 20th May 1794 [his son-in-law] John Cotes and Maria Grey [aged 25] were married. She the daughter of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 56] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 57].

In 1796 George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 58] was created 1st Earl Warrington, 1st Baron Delamer. [his wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 58] by marriage Countess Warrington.

On 23rd December 1797 George Grey 6th Earl Stamford 2nd Earl Warrington [aged 32] and Henrietta Charteris Countess Stamford and Warrington were married. He the son of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 60] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 60].

In 1799 [his son] Henry Grey [aged 23] died.

On 18th October 1800 [his son-in-law] John Lister-Kaye 1st Baronet [aged 28] and Amelia Grey Lady Lister-Kaye [aged 21] were married. She by marriage Lady Kaye of Woodsome Hall in Yorkshire. She the daughter of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 63] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 63].

On 21st October 1809 [his son-in-law] Booth Grey [aged 26] and Sophia Grey [aged 32] were married. She the daughter of George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 72] and Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 72]. They were first cousins.

On 30th October 1809 [his brother-in-law] William Cavendish-Bentinck 3rd Duke Portland [aged 71] died. His son William [aged 41] succeeded 4th Duke Portland, 5th Earl of Portland.

On 28th May 1819 George Grey 5th Earl Stamford 1st Earl Warrington [aged 81] died at Enville Hall, Staffordshire. His son George [aged 53] succeeded 6th Earl Stamford, 2nd Earl Warrington, 7th Baron Grey of Groby, 2nd Baron Delamer. Henrietta Charteris Countess Stamford and Warrington by marriage Countess Stamford, Countess Warrington.

On 4th June 1827 [his former wife] Henrietta Bentinck Countess Stamford and Warrington [aged 90] died.
