Biography of Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple 1711-1779

Paternal Family Tree: Granville

On 25th November 1710 [his father] Richard Granville (age 32) and [his mother] Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple (age 20) were married.

On or before 26th September 1711 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple was born to Richard Granville (age 33) and Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple (age 21).

On 17th February 1727 [his father] Richard Granville (age 48) died.

In 1734 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 22) was elected MP Buckingham which seat he held until 1741.

On 9th May 1737 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 25) and Anne Chamber Countess Temple were married. He the son of Richard Granville and Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple (age 47).

In 1741 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 29) was elected MP Buckinghamshire which seat he held until 1747.

In 1747 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 35) was appointed High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire.

In 1747 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 35) was elected MP Buckingham which seat he held until 1752.

In 1752 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 40) changed his surname from Grenville to Grenville-Temple.

In 1752 [his mother] Hester Temple 1st Countess Temple (age 62) died. Her son Richard (age 40) succeeded 2nd Earl Temple, 3rd Viscount Cobham. [his wife] Anne Chamber Countess Temple by marriage Countess Temple.

In 1756 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 44) was appointed First Lord of the Admiralty which office he held until 1757.

In 1757 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 45) was appointed Lord Privy Seal which office he held until 1761.

In 1758 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 46) was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire.

In 1760 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 48) was appointed 579th Knight of the Garter by King George II of Great Britain and Ireland (age 76).

On 7th April 1777 [his wife] Anne Chamber Countess Temple died.

On 12th September 1779 Richard Grenville-Temple 2nd Earl Temple (age 67) died in a carriage accident without surviving issue. His nephew George (age 26) succeeded 3rd Earl Temple, 4th Viscount Cobham.
