Before 1584 [his father] Henry Pierrepont (age 37) and [his mother] Frances Cavendish (age 35) were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] William Cavendish and [his grandmother] Bess of Hardwick Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford (age 56). They were sixth cousins.

On 6th August 1584 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston was born to [his father] Henry Pierrepont (age 38) and [his mother] Frances Cavendish (age 36).

In or before 1595 [his brother-in-law] Richard Stapleton and [his sister] Elizabeth Pierrepont Countess Kellie (age 26) were married. They were half fifth cousin once removed.

In 1596 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 11) was educated at Oriel College.

In 1600 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 15) admitted at Gray's Inn.

In 1601 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 16) was elected MP Nottinghamshire.

On 8th January 1601 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 16) and Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 20) were married at Overton Longueville.

Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

In 1604 [his brother-in-law] Thomas Erskine 1st Earl Kellie (age 38) and [his sister] Elizabeth Pierrepont Countess Kellie (age 36) were married. There is some uncertainty about whether this is the right Elizabeth Pierrepoint.

In March 1606 [his son] Henry Pierrepont 1st Marquess Dorchester was born to Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 21) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 25). He married (1) 1630 his sixth cousin Cecilia Bayning, daughter of Paul Bayning 1st Viscount Bayning and Anne Glemham Viscountess Bayning, and had issue (2) September 1652 his fifth cousin once removed Catherine Stanley Marchioness Dorchester, daughter of James Stanley 7th Earl of Derby and Charlotte Thouars Countess Derby.

In 1608 [his son] William Pierrepont of Thoresby was born to Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 23) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 27). He married 8th June 1628 Elizabeth Harries aka Harris, daughter of Thomas Harries aka Harris 1st Baronet and Eleanor Gifford, and had issue.

In 1608 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 23) was appointed High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire.

Before 8th September 1612 [his son] Francis Pierrepont was born to Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 28) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 31). He married 1635 Elizabeth Bray and had issue.

On 19th March 1616 [his father] Henry Pierrepont (age 70) died. Church of St Edmund, Holme Pierrepoint [Map]. Designed by John Smythson. Probably carved by Hugh Hall who also carved the monument to Thomas Smith originally at Wybynbury but since moved to Nantwich [Map]. Elizabethan Period. Armorials:

Frances Cavendish: On 18th June 1548 she was born to William Cavendish and Bess of Hardwick. Before 1584 Henry Pierrepont and she were married. She the daughter of William Cavendish and Bess of Hardwick Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford. They were sixth cousins. In January 1632 Frances Cavendish died.

In March 1619 [his brother-in-law] Thomas Erskine 1st Earl Kellie (age 53) was created 1st Earl Kellie. [his sister] Elizabeth Pierrepont Countess Kellie (age 51) by marriage Countess Kellie.

In 1620 [his son] Gervase Pierrepont was born to Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 35) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 39).

The History of William Marshal, Earl of Chepstow and Pembroke, Regent of England. Book 1 of 2, Lines 1-10152.

The History of William Marshal was commissioned by his son shortly after William’s death in 1219 to celebrate the Marshal’s remarkable life; it is an authentic, contemporary voice. The manuscript was discovered in 1861 by French historian Paul Meyer. Meyer published the manuscript in its original Anglo-French in 1891 in two books. This book is a line by line translation of the first of Meyer’s books; lines 1-10152. Book 1 of the History begins in 1139 and ends in 1194. It describes the events of the Anarchy, the role of William’s father John, John’s marriages, William’s childhood, his role as a hostage at the siege of Newbury, his injury and imprisonment in Poitou where he met Eleanor of Aquitaine and his life as a knight errant. It continues with the accusation against him of an improper relationship with Margaret, wife of Henry the Young King, his exile, and return, the death of Henry the Young King, the rebellion of Richard, the future King Richard I, war with France, the death of King Henry II, and the capture of King Richard, and the rebellion of John, the future King John. It ends with the release of King Richard and the death of John Marshal.

In 1628 [his son] George Pierrepoint was born to Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 43) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 47).

On 25th January 1628 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 43) was created 1st Earl Kingston upon Hull, 1st Viscount Newark. [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 47) by marriage Countess Kingston upon Hull.

On 8th June 1628 [his son] William Pierrepont of Thoresby (age 20) and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Harries aka Harris (age 31) were married at St Martin's Church, Ludgate. Around 1630 [his son] Henry Pierrepont 1st Marquess Dorchester (age 23) and [his daughter-in-law] Cecilia Bayning (age 16) were married. He the son of Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 45) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 49). They were sixth cousins.

In January 1632 [his mother] Frances Cavendish (age 83) died.

In 1635 [his son] Francis Pierrepont (age 22) and [his daughter-in-law] Elizabeth Bray (age 20) were married. He the son of Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 50) and [his wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 54).

Battle of Gainsborough

After March 1643 the town of Gainsborough [Map] was placed under the command of the Royalist Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 58) from which they harassed Parliamentarians in Lincolnshire. Royalist attacks at Louth and Market Rasen, together with the capture of gunpowder intended for Rotherham, provoked Parliament into action.

On 16th July 1643 Francis Willoughby 5th Baron Willoughby of Parham launched a night attack on Gainsborough [Map] and captured it and Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (age 58).

On 25th July 1643 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston Was accidentally shot and killed while a prisoner on board a vessel bound for Hull. His son Henry (age 37) succeeded 2nd Earl Kingston upon Hull, 2nd Viscount Newark, 2nd Baron Pierrepont of Holme Pierrepoint. [his future daughter-in-law] Catherine Stanley Marchioness Dorchester by marriage Countess Kingston upon Hull.

On 27th July 1643 Robert Pierrepont 1st Earl Kingston (deceased) was buried at Church of St Edmund, Holme Pierrepoint [Map].

In 1649 [his former wife] Gertrude Talbot Baroness Pierrepont Holme Pierrepoint (age 68) died. She was buried at the Church of St Edmund, Holme Pierrepoint [Map].

In or after 1852 the contents of the Crypt of the Church of St Edmund, Holme Pierrepoint [Map] were listed with a diagram by the Reverend James Cleaver, Rector of Holme Pierrepont, as follows:

Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
