[02 Jan 1315] In the same year, Piers Gaveston, Earl of Cornwall, who had been killed and had not yet been buried but lay unburied at Oxford with the Friars Preachers, was now committed to the earth at Langley [Map] with great honour. For this, the king constructed a church of the Friars Preachers at that place.

On 02 Jan 1315 Piers Gaveston 1st Earl Cornwall was buried at King's Langley Priory, Hertfordshire [Map] some two and a half years after his murder. Isabella had travelled to England with her sister Constance of Castile Duchess of Lancaster (age 38) who had married Edmund's elder brother John of Gaunt 1st Duke Lancaster (age 52). Isabella and Edmund's marriage was not, apparently, a happy one. She is known to have had an affair with John Holland 1st Duke Exeter (age 40) who may have been the father of Richard of Conisbrough 1st Earl Cambridge (age 7) progenitor of the House of York.

On 14 Feb 1400 (exact date not known) King Richard II (age 33) died at Pontefract Castle [Map] where he had been imprisoned three months before; possibly murdered, possibly starved to death. His death was a consequence of the Epiphany Rising; he was still considered a threat. His first cousin Philippa Plantagenet Countess March 5th Countess Ulster de jure Heir to the Throne of England since she was the daughter of Lionel Plantagenet 1st Duke of Clarence. She at this time had four children with her husband Edmund Mortimer 3rd Earl March, Earl Ulster. The new King Henry IV (age 32) ignored her claim.
On 17 Feb 1400 Richard's corpse was displayed at St Paul's Cathedral [Map].
On 06 Mar 1400 Richard's remains were buried at King's Langley Priory, Hertfordshire [Map].
