In 1608 Gervase Clifton 1st Baron Clifton (age 38) was created 1st Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire by writ of summons enabling descent by the female line.
On 14th October 1618 Gervase Clifton 1st Baron Clifton (age 48) stabbed himself to death in the Fleet Prison [Map]. His daughter Katherine (age 26) succeeded 2nd Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire. According to a letter from Reverend Thomas Lorkin the date was the 5th of October and the location "at his lodgings in Holborn" - see Letter.
Before 17th September 1637 Katherine Clifton Duchess Lennox (age 45) died. She was buried on 17th September 1637. Her son James (age 25) succeeded 3rd Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 30th March 1655 James Stewart 4th Duke Lennox 1st Duke Richmond (age 42) died. His son Esmé (age 6) succeeded 2nd Duke Richmond, 5th Duke Lennox, 3rd Earl March, 4th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 10th August 1660 Esmé Stewart 2nd Duke Richmond 5th Duke Lennox (age 11) died of smallpox at Paris [Map]. He was buried in on 04 Sep 1660 in the Richmond Vault, Westminster Abbey. His first cousin Charles (age 21) succeeded 6th Duke Lennox, 3rd Duke Richmond. 4th Earl March. Elizabeth Rogers Duchess Richmond by marriage Duchess Richmond. His sister Mary (age 9) succeeded 5th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 4th July 1668 Mary Stewart Countess Arran (age 16) died. Her first cousin Charles (age 29) succeeded 6th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
In December 1672 Charles Stewart 6th Duke Lennox 3rd Duke Richmond (age 33) drowned at Elsinor. Duke Lennox, Duke Richmond, Earl March, Earl Lichfield, Baron Stuart extinct. His sister Katherine (age 32) succeeded 7th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
In 1702 Katherine Stewart (age 62) died. Her fourth cousin Katherine (age 38) succeeded 8th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 11th August 1706 Katherine O'Brien (age 43) died at New York. She was buried at Trinity Church, New York. Her son Edward succeeded 9th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
In February 1713 Edward Hyde 9th Baron Clifton died. His sister Theodosia (age 17) succeeded 10th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 30th July 1722 Theodosia Hyde (age 26) died in childbirth. Her son Edward (age 7) succeeded 11th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
In 1747 Edward Bligh 2nd Earl Darnley (age 32) died. His brother John (age 27) succeeded 3rd Earl Darnley, 12th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 31st July 1781 John Bligh 3rd Earl Darnley (age 61) died. His son John (age 14) succeeded 4th Earl Darnley, 13th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 17th March 1831 John Bligh 4th Earl Darnley (age 63) died. His son Edward (age 36) succeeded 5th Earl Darnley, 14th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire. Emma Jane Parnell Countess Darnley by marriage Countess Darnley.

On 14th December 1896 John Stuart Bligh 6th Earl Darnley (age 69) died. His son Edward (age 45) succeeded 7th Earl Darnley, 16th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 31st October 1900 Edward Bligh 7th Earl Darnley (age 49) died. His brother Ivo (age 41) succeeded 8th Earl Darnley. Florence Bligh Countess of Darnley (age 40) by marriage Countess Darnley. His daughter Elizabeth succeeded 17th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
In 1937 Elizabeth Bligh 17th Baroness Clifton (age 37) died. Her first cousin Esme (age 50) succeeded 18th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire
On 29th May 1955 Esme Ivo Bligh 9th Earl of Darnley (age 68) died. His son Peter (age 39) succeeded 10th Earl Darnley, 19th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 15th June 1980 Major Peter Stuart Bligh 10th Earl of Darnley (age 64) died. His half brother Adam (age 38) succeeded 11th Earl Darnley, 20th Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
On 18th June 2017 Adam Ivo Stuart Bligh 11th Earl of Darnley (age 75) died. His son Ivo (age 49) succeeded 12th Earl Darnley, 21st Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.
