On 19th December 1408 John Tuchet 4th Baron Audley, 1st Baron Tuchet (age 37) died. His son James (age 10) succeeded 5th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 2nd Baron Tuchet.

On 24th February 1415 James Tuchet 5th Baron Audley, 2nd Baron Tuchet (age 17) and Margaret Ros Baroness Audley Heighley were married. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet. They were half second cousin once removed. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Henry III of England.

After 14th September 1430 James Tuchet 5th Baron Audley, 2nd Baron Tuchet (age 32) and Eleanor Holland Baroness Audley Heighley (age 24) were married. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet. She the illegitmate daughter of Edmund Holland 4th Earl Kent and Constance York Countess Gloucester. They were fifth cousin once removed. She a great granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

23rd September 1459 Battle of Blore Heath

On 23rd September 1459 A Lancastrian army of James Tuchet 5th Baron Audley, 2nd Baron Tuchet (age 61) and John Sutton 1st Baron Dudley (age 58) fought with a Yorkist army commanded by Richard Neville Earl Salisbury (age 59) at Blore Heath, Staffordshire [Map] whilst he, Salisbury, was travelling to Ludlow [Map] to join up with the main Yorkist army. Forewarned by scouts Salisbury arranged his troops into battle order the night before, arranging his wagons defensively, and digging trenches.

The Yorkist army included John Conyers (age 48), Thomas Harrington (age 59), James Harrington (age 29), John Neville 1st Marquess Montagu (age 28), William Stanley (age 24), Roger Kynaston of Myddle and Hordley (age 26), John Savile, Walter Strickland (age 48) and John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 59).

The Lancastrian army included brothers John Dutton, Thomas Dutton (age 38) and Peter Dutton who were killed.

James Tuchet 5th Baron Audley, 2nd Baron Tuchet was killed, probably by Roger Kynaston of Myddle and Hordley. His son John (age 33) succeeded 6th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 3rd Baron Tuchet. Anne Echingham Baroness Audley Heighley (age 39) by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire.

John Sutton 1st Baron Dudley and Edmund Sutton (age 34) were captured. Lionel Welles 6th Baron Welles (age 53) fought.

William Troutbeck (age 23), Richard Molyneux of Sefton and John Egerton (age 55) were killed.

After the battle Margaret of Anjou Queen Consort England (age 29) took refuge at Eccleshall Castle, Staffordshire [Map]. Thomas Harrington, John Neville 1st Marquess Montagu and Thomas Neville (age 29) were captured at Acton Bridge, Tarporley [Map] and imprisoned at Chester Castle [Map] having been detached from the main Yorkist force.

On 26th September 1490 John Tuchet 6th Baron Audley, 3rd Baron Tuchet (age 64) died at Shere, Surrey. His son James (age 27) succeeded 7th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 4th Baron Tuchet. Battle of Blackheath aka Deptford Bridge

On 28th June 1497 James Tuchet 7th Baron Audley, 4th Baron Tuchet (age 34) was beheaded at Tower Hill [Map]. He was buried at Blackfriars Church Holborn. His head was placed on a spike at London Bridge [Map]. Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire and Baron Tuchet forfeit.

Around 1557 John Tuchet 8th Baron Audley, 5th Baron Tuchet (age 74) died. His son George succeeded 9th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 6th Baron Tuchet. Elizabeth Tuke Baroness Audley Heighley by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire.

On 30th December 1563 Henry Tuchet 10th Baron Audley, 7th Baron Tuchet died. He was buried at Betley, Staffordshire. His son George (age 12) succeeded 11th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 8th Baron Tuchet.

Around 1580 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven (age 29) and Lucy Mervyn Baroness Audley and Tuchet were married. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet.

After 20th February 1616 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven (age 65) and Elizabeth Noel Countess Castlehaven were married at Mary le Strand. She by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, Baroness Tuchet.

In 1617 George Tuchet 1st Earl Castlehaven (age 66) died. His son Mervyn (age 24) succeeded 2nd Earl Castlehaven, 12th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 9th Baron Tuchet, 2nd Baron Audley of Orier in England. Elizabeth Barnham Countess Castlehaven (age 25) by marriage Countess Castlehaven.

Execution of Lord Castlehaven

On 14th May 1631 Mervyn Tuchet 2nd Earl Castlehaven (age 38) was beheaded at Tower Hill [Map]. His English titles Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire and Baron Tuchet were forfeited as a result of his attainder. His son James (age 14) succeeded to his Irish titles 3rd Earl Castlehaven, 3rd Baron Audley of Orier in England.

He was executed for the unnatural crime of sodomy in accordance with the 1533 Buggery Act, committed with his page Laurence (or Florence) FitzPatrick, who confessed to the crime and was executed; and assisting Giles Browning (alias Broadway), who was also executed, in the rape of his wife Anne, Countess of Castlehaven (age 51), in which Lord Castlehaven was found to have participated by restraining her.

The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

In 1678 James Tuchet 3rd Earl Castlehaven (age 61) was restored 13th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 10th Baron Tuchet by Act of Parliament.

On 11th October 1686 James Tuchet 3rd Earl Castlehaven (age 69) died at Kilcash Castle, County Tipperary. His brother Mervyn succeeded 4th Earl Castlehaven, 14th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 11th Baron Tuchet, 4th Baron Audley of Orier in England, 2nd Baron Audley of Hely in Ireland but only for three weeks. He died on 2nd November 1686. Mary Talbot Countess Castlehaven by marriage Countess Castlehaven.

On 6th May 1769 James Tuchet 7th Earl Castlehaven (age 46) died unmarried. His brother John (age 44) succeeded 8th Earl Castlehaven, 18th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 15th Baron Tuchet, 8th Baron Audley of Orier in England, 6th Baron Audley of Hely in Ireland.

On 22nd April 1777 John Tuchet 8th Earl Castlehaven (age 52) died. Earl Castlehaven, Baron Audley of Orier in England and Baron Audley of Hely in Ireland extinct. His nephew George (age 20) succeeded 19th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 16th Baron Tuchet.

On 24th August 1818 George Thicknesse 19th Baron Audley 16th Baron Tuchet (age 61) died. His son George (age 35) succeeded 20th Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 17th Baron Tuchet. Anne-Jane Donnelly Baroness Audley by marriage Baroness Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire.

On 14th January 1837 George Thicknesse-Touchet 20th Baron Audley 17th Baron Tuchet (age 53) died. His son George (age 19) succeeded 21st Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire, 18th Baron Tuchet.

On 18th April 1872 George Edward Thicknesse-Touchet 21st Baron Audley 18th Baron Tuchet (age 55) died. Baron Audley of Heighley in Staffordshire and Baron Tuchet abeyant between his two daughters Mary Thicknesse-Touchet 22nd Baroness Audley (age 13) and Emily Thicknesse-Touchet.
