Around 1175 William Percy 3rd Baron Percy Topcliffe died. His daughter Agnes (age 40) succeeded 4th Baroness Percy of Topcliffe.

In 1310 Stephen Burghesh 2nd Baron Burghesh (age 27) died. His daughter Maud (age 6) succeeded 3rd Baroness Burghesh.

Battle of Sluys

On 24th June 1340 King Edward III of England (age 27) attacked the French fleet at anchor during the Battle of Sluys capturing more than 200 ships, killing around 18000 French. The English force included John Beauchamp 1st Baron Beauchamp Warwick (age 24), William Bohun 1st Earl of Northampton (age 30), Henry Scrope 1st Baron Scrope of Masham (age 27), William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby (age 10), John Lisle 2nd Baron Lisle (age 22), Ralph Stafford 1st Earl Stafford (age 38), Henry of Grosmont 1st Duke Lancaster (age 30), Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 30), Hugh Despencer 1st Baron Despencer (age 32) and Richard Pembridge (age 20).

Thomas Monthermer 2nd Baron Monthermer (age 38) died from wounds. His daughter Margaret succeeded 3rd Baroness Monthermer.

On 18th August 1347 Edmund St John 3rd Baron St John of Basing (age 13) died at Calais [Map]. His sister Isabel (age 14) succeeded 4th Baroness St John of Basing.

On 31st May 1349 Thomas Wake 2nd Baron Wake of Liddell (age 52) died. He was buried at Haltemprice Priory [Map]. His sister Margaret (age 52) succeeded 3rd Baroness Wake of Liddell.

On 26th December 1352 John Plantagenet 3rd Earl Kent (age 22) died. He was buried at Greyfriars Church, Winchester [Map]. Earl Kent extinct. His sister Joan (age 24) succeeded 5th Baroness Wake of Liddell. Some source suggest she also succeeded as 4th Countess of Kent but this is inconsistent with 1. her husband being created Earl of Kent as a new creation, and 2. her son not succeeding to the original Earldom?

On 1st April 1353 John Segrave 4th Baron Segrave (age 37) died at Bretby Repton, Derbyshire [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth (age 14) succeeded 5th Baroness Segrave.

On 5th April 1369 Bartholomew "The Younger" Burghesh 2nd Baron Burghesh (age 41) died. He was buried at Lady Chapel Walsingham Priory. His daughter Elizabeth (age 27) succeeded 3rd Baroness Burghesh.

On 12th January 1372 Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 62) died. His daughter Anne succeeded 2nd Baroness Manny. John Hastings 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 24) by marriage Baron Manny.

On 16th March 1373 Robert Holland 2nd Baron Holand (age 62) died. His sister Maud (age 63) succeeded 3rd Baroness Holand.

In 1375 Alice Boteler (age 35) died at Wem, Shropshire. Her sister Elizabeth (age 30) abeyance terminated 4th Baroness Wem and Oversley. Robert Ferrers Baron Wem and Oversley (age 34) by marriage Baron Wem and Oversley. Some sources suggest her husband was created Baron Ferrers of Wem and Oversley in this own right. Since his son Robert Ferrers (age 2) didn't succeed to a title when his father died it appears Robert Ferrers was summoned to Parliament in right of his wife ie jure uxoris, rather than being created a Baron in his won right.

On 27th June 1376 Joan Montagu Countess Suffolk (age 27) died. Her half sister Audrey succeeded 2nd Baroness Montagu.

In 1381 Gilbert Umfraville 9th Earl Angus (age 71) died. His niece Eleanor succeeded 4th Baroness Kyme. Henry Tailboys Baron Kyme by marriage Baron Kyme.

On 28th May 1381 William Latimer 4th Baron Latimer of Corby (age 51) died. He was buried at Gisborough Priory [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth (age 24) succeeded 5th Baroness Latimer of Corby.

In 1382 John Strange 5th Baron Strange Blackmere (age 29) died. His sister Elizabeth (age 20) succeeded 6th Baroness Strange Blackmere.

On 28th June 1382 Warin Lisle 2nd Baron Lisle (age 52) died. His daughter Margaret (age 20) succeeded 3rd Baroness Lisle of Kingston Lisle in Oxfordshire.

On 27th July 1382 John Saye 4th Baron Say (age 9) died. His sister Elizabeth (age 15) succeeded 5th Baroness Say.

In 1383 William Furnival 4th Baron Furnivall (age 56) died. His daughter Joan (age 8) succeeded 5th Baroness Furnivall.

On 4th April 1386 John Botetort 2nd Baron Botetort (age 68) died. His granddaughter Joyce (age 18) succeeded 3rd Baroness Botetort.

On 13th November 1396 John Devereux 2nd Baron Devereux (age 18) died. His sister Joan (age 17) succeeded 3rd Baroness Devereux.

On 14th March 1406 Thomas Neville Baron Furnivall (age 44) died at Worksop Priory [Map]. His daughter Maud (age 13) succeeded 6th Baroness Furnivall.

On 10th January 1408 John Cobham 3rd Baron Cobham (age 87) died at Cooling Castle [Map]. His granddaughter Joan succeeded 4th Baroness Cobham.

On 18th May 1409 Bartholomew Bourchier 3rd Baron Bourchier died. His daughter Elizabeth (age 10) succeeded 4th Baroness Bourchier.

On 7th October 1414 Richard Despencer 4th Baron Burghesh (age 17) died. His sister Isabel (age 14) succeeded 5th Baroness Burghesh.

On 19th October 1419 Gilbert Talbot 8th Baron Strange Blackmere 5th Baron Talbot (age 36) died. His daughter Ankaret (age 3) succeeded 9th Baroness Strange Blackmere, 6th Baroness Talbot.

In 1422 Richard Beauchamp 1st Earl of Worcester (age 26) died. Earl Worcester extinct. His daughter Elizabeth (age 6) succeeded 3rd Baroness Abergavenny.

On 20th June 1424 Philip Despencer 2nd Baron Despencer (age 59) died. His daughter Margery (age 27) de jure 3rd Baroness Despencer.

Around 1427 Fulk Fitzwarin 7th Baron Fitzwarin (age 23) died. His sister Elizabeth (age 24) succeeded 8th Baroness Fitzwarin.

In or after 1427 Elizabeth Fitzwarin 8th Baroness Fitzwarin (deceased) died. Her daughter Thomasine (age 4) succeeded 9th Baroness Fitzwarin.

Siege of Orléans

On 3rd November 1428 Thomas Montagu 1st Count Perche 4th Earl Salisbury (age 40) died from wounds received at the Siege of Orléans. His daughter Alice (age 21) succeeded 5th Countess Salisbury, 4th Baroness Montagu, 7th Baroness Montagu, 6th Baroness Monthermer. Richard Neville Earl Salisbury (age 28) by marriage Earl Salisbury.

In 1429 Joan Fauconberg Countess Kent (age 22) abeyance terminated 6th Baroness Fauconberg. William Neville 1st Earl Kent (age 24) by marriage Baron Fauconberg. Not clear whether the abeyance was terminated as a consequence of an unknown sister of Joan Fauconberg Countess Kent dying and Joan being the only remaining descendant.

On 25th November 1431 Walter Fitzwalter 7th Baron Fitzwalter (age 31) drowned at sea in a storm whilst returning from France.

Elizabeth Fitzwalter Baroness Dinham 8th Baroness Fitzwalter (age 2) succeeded 8th Baroness Fitzwalter. Note. Chronicle of Gregory 1432 states 24th November 1432 or, more specifically, "on Syn Kateryn ys eve" - St Katherine's feast day is 25 Nov.

On 13th January 1434 Joan Pole 4th Baroness Cobham died. She was buried at Church of St Mary Magdalene, Cobham. Her daughter Joan (age 31) succeeded 5th Baroness Cobham. Thomas Brooke Baron Cobham (age 43) by marriage Baron Cobham.

In 1443 Robert Morley 7th Baron Marshal 6th Baron Morley (age 25) died. His daughter Alianore (age 1) succeeded 8th Baroness Marshal, 7th Baroness Morley.

On 11th June 1446 Henry Beauchamp 1st Duke Warwick (age 21) died at Hanley Castle, Worcestershire. Duke Warwick extinct. His daughter Anne (age 3) succeeded 15th Countess Warwick, 7th Baroness Burghesh.

On 2nd October 1446 Robert Poynings 4th Baron Poynings (age 63) died at Orléans. His granddaughter Eleanor (age 24) succeeded 5th Baroness Poynings

On 5th January 1458 Thomas Dacre 6th Baron Dacre Gilsland (age 70) died. On 5th January 1458 His granddaughter Joan (age 25) succeeded 7th Baroness Dacre Gilsland, 7th Baroness Multon of Gilsland.

Murder of Lord Scales

On 20th July 1460 Thomas Scales 7th Baron Scales (age 63) was murdered by boatmen whilst travelling from the Tower of London [Map] to Sanctuary, Westminster Abbey [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth succeeded 8th Baroness Scales. She was, or had been married to, Henry Bourchier (the year of his death may been 1458). She was in 1466 married to Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers (age 20), brother of King Edward IV's (age 18) wife Elizabeth Woodville Queen Consort England (age 23); an example of the Woodville family marrying rich heiresses.

Battle of Wakefield

On 30th December 1460 the Lancastrian army took their revenge for the defeats of the First Battle of St Albans and the Battle of Northampton at the Battle of Wakefield near Sandal Castle [Map]. The Lancastrian army was commanded by Henry Holland 3rd Duke Exeter (age 30), Henry Beaufort 2nd or 3rd Duke of Somerset (age 24) and Henry Percy 3rd Earl of Northumberland (age 39), and included John Courtenay 15th Earl Devon (age 25) and William Gascoigne XIII (age 30), both knighted, and James Butler 1st Earl Wiltshire 5th Earl Ormonde (age 40), John "Butcher" Clifford 9th Baron Clifford (age 25), John Neville 1st Baron Neville of Raby (age 50), Thomas Ros 9th Baron Ros Helmsley (age 33), Henry Roos and Thomas St Leger (age 20).

The Yorkist army was heavily defeated.

Richard Plantagenet 3rd Duke of York (age 49) was killed. His son Edward (age 18) succeeded 4th Duke York, 7th Earl March, 9th Earl of Ulster, 3rd Earl Cambridge, 9th Baron Mortimer of Wigmore.

Thomas Neville (age 30), and Edward Bourchier were killed.

Father and son Thomas Harrington (age 60) and John Harrington (age 36) were killed, the former dying of his wounds the day after.

William Bonville 6th Baron Harington (age 18) was killed. His daughter Cecily succeeded 7th Baroness Harington.

Thomas Parr (age 53) fought in the Yorkist army.

Following the battle Richard Neville Earl Salisbury (age 60) was beheaded by Thomas "Bastard of Exeter" Holland. William Bonville (age 40) was executed.

Edmund York 1st Earl of Rutland (age 17) was killed on Wakefield Bridge [Map] by John "Butcher" Clifford. Earl of Rutland extinct.

Second Battle of St Albans

On 17th February 1461 the Lancastrian army defeated the Yorkist army at Second Battle of St Albans and rescued King Henry VI of England and II of France (age 39). The Lancastrian army was commanded by Henry Holland 3rd Duke Exeter (age 30) and included Henry Percy 3rd Earl of Northumberland (age 39), John Mowbray 3rd Duke of Norfolk (age 45), Henry Grey 4th or 7th Baron Grey of Codnor (age 26), Henry Roos and Richard Welles 7th Baron Welles, Baron Willoughby (age 33).

Thomas Ros 9th Baron Ros Helmsley (age 33), William Tailboys 7th Baron Kyme (age 46), John Talbot 3rd Earl of Shrewsbury (age 12) and Thomas Tresham (age 41) were knighted.

The Yorkist army included Richard "Kingmaker" Neville Earl Warwick, 6th Earl Salisbury (age 32), William Fitzalan 9th or 16th Earl of Arundel (age 43), John Wenlock 1st Baron Wenlock (age 61) and Henry Bourchier 2nd Count of Eu 1st Earl Essex (age 57). John Neville 1st Marquess Montagu (age 30) was captured. Robert Poynings (age 42) and James Luttrell (age 34) were killed.

John Grey (age 29) was killed fighting for Lancaster. A death that was to have far reaching consequences; his widow Elizabeth Woodville Queen Consort England (age 24) subsequently married King Edward IV of England (age 18).

During the battle William Bonville 1st Baron Bonville (age 68) and Thomas Kyriell (age 65) were assigned to the protection of the King Henry VI. After the battle both were beheaded against all decent laws of battle.

William Bonville 1st Baron Bonville was beheaded. His great granddaughter Cecily succeeded 2nd Baroness Bonville.

Thomas Kyriell was beheaded.

William Cotton (age 21) was killed.

On 16th May 1462 William Botreaux 3rd Baron Botreaux (age 73) died. He was buried at Church of St Michael North Cadbury, Somerset. His daughter Margaret succeeded 4th Baroness Botreaux.

March 1470 Welles' Rebellion and Battle of Losecoat Field aka Empingham

On 19th March 1470 Robert Welles 8th Baron Willoughby 8th Baron Welles was beheaded at Doncaster [Map]. He was buried at Whitefriars Doncaster [Map]. Baron Welles forfeit. His sister Joan succeeded 9th Baroness Willoughby de Eresby. Richard Hastings Baron Willoughby (age 37) by marriage Baron Willoughby de Eresby. He, Hastings, a favourite of King Edward IV of England (age 27), younger brother of Edward's great friend William Hastings 1st Baron Hastings (age 39).

On 26th April 1471 Thomas Cobham 5th Baron Cobham (age 59) died. His daughter Anne (age 4) succeeded 6th Baroness Cobham.

Before 10th February 1474 Margaret Deincourt Baroness Cromwell (age 68) died. Her sister Alice (age 69) abeyance terminated 6th Baroness Deincourt.

In 1475 Margaret Talbot died. Her sister Elizabeth abeyance terminated 3rd Baroness Lisle.

Death of the Duke of Norfolk

On 17th January 1476 John Mowbray 4th Duke of Norfolk (age 31) died at Framlingham Castle, Suffolk [Map]. Suspicious since he was only 32? Duke Norfolk, Earl Surrey and Earl Nottingham extinct. His daughter Anne (age 3) succeeded 8th Countess Norfolk, 11th Baroness Mowbray, 12th Baroness Segrave and inherited the vast Mowbray estates. She was subsequently married to Richard of Shrewsbury 1st Duke of York (age 2) two years later.

On 1st June 1487 Ralph Greystoke 5th Baron Greystoke (age 73) died. His granddaughter Elizabeth (age 15) succeeded 6th Baroness Greystoke.

On 10th March 1490 Joan Stanhope died. Her sister Maud abeyance terminated 4th Baroness Cromwell.

On 16th July 1491 William Herbert 2nd Earl Pembroke 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 40) died. Earl Huntingdon extinct. His daughter Elizabeth (age 15) succeeded 3rd Baroness Herbert of Raglan.

Around 23rd April 1493 Thomas Scrope 6th Baron Scrope of Masham (age 34) died. His daughter Alice succeeded 7th Baroness Scrope of Masham.

In 1519 Elizabeth Grey Countess Devon (age 13) died. Her aunt Elizabeth (age 39) succeeded 6th Baroness Lisle.

On 10th November 1521 Robert Willoughby 2nd Baron Willoughby 10th Baron Latimer (age 49) died at Bere Ferrers, Devon. He was buried at St Andrew's Church, Bere Ferrers [Map]. His granddaughter Elizabeth (age 9) succeeded 11th Baroness Latimer of Corby, 3rd Baroness Willoughby Broke. It isn't clear whether she claimed the titles since the law of succession by females when a peerage was created by writ was not established until 1696.

On 19th March 1533 John Bourchier 2nd Baron Berners (age 66) died at Calais [Map]. His daughter Joan de jure 3rd Baroness Berners. Edmund Knyvet Baron Berners (age 49) by marriage Baron Berners.

On 13th March 1540 Henry Bourchier 2nd Earl Essex 3rd Count of Eu died. Earl Essex, Viscount Bourchier extinct. His daughter Anne (age 23) succeeded 7th Baroness Bourchier. His second cousin once removed John (age 41) succeeded 2nd Count Eu. Neither he or his descendants used the title.

On 26th June 1542 Robert Tailboys 3rd Baron Tailboys 11th Baron Kyme (age 14) died. His sister Elizabeth (age 20) succeeded 4th Baroness Tailboys of Kyme. His sister Elizabeth de jure 12th Baroness Kyme

On 27th August 1566 Thomas Griffin 11th Baron Latimer Braybrooke died. His granddaughter Mary (age 21) de jure 12th Baroness Latimer of Braybrook.

On 14th April 1587 Edward Manners 3rd Earl of Rutland (age 37) died at his home Ivy Bridge on the Strand [Map] or at Puddle Wharf aka Dock [Map]. He was buried at St Mary the Virgin Church, Bottesford, Leicestershire [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth (age 12) succeeded 15th Baroness Ros Helmsley. His brother John (age 36) succeeded 4th Earl of Rutland. Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland (age 34) by marriage Countess of Rutland. He would be Earl for ten months only dying on 24 Feb 1588.

Robert Constable (age 65) was one of the principal mourners at his funeral.

On 25th December 1594 Gregory Fiennes 10th Baron Dacre Gilsland (age 55) died. He was buried at Chelsea Old Church. His sister Margaret (age 53) succeeded 11th Baroness Dacre Gilsland, 11th Baroness Multon of Gilsland. Samson Lennard Baron Dacre Gilsland (age 50) by marriage Baron Dacre Gilsland.

On 25th May 1604 Mary Neville 3rd Baroness Despencer (age 50) abeyance terminated 3rd Baroness Despencer with precedence from 1264. The abeyance termination was of the third creation since she was the 3rd Baroness, and none of the previous creations had only two holders?

On 30th October 1605 George Clifford 3rd Earl of Cumberland (age 47) died. His brother Francis (age 46) succeeded 4th Earl of Cumberland. His daughter Anne (age 15) succeeded 14th Baroness de Clifford.

Francis Clifford 4th Earl of Cumberland bequeathed to Anne the sum of £15,000 in lieu of the estates she was legally entitled to. She engaged in a long and complex legal battle to obtain the family estates. In 1643, when Henry Clifford 5th Earl of Cumberland (age 14) died she regained her estates.

On 8th May 1616 Gilbert Talbot 7th Earl of Shrewsbury (age 63) died. His daughter Alethea (age 31) succeeded 13th Baroness Furnivall, 17th Baroness Strange Blackmere, 14th Baroness Talbot. His brother Edward (age 55) succeeded 8th Earl of Shrewsbury, 8th Earl Waterford.

On 14th October 1618 Gervase Clifton 1st Baron Clifton (age 48) stabbed himself to death in the Fleet Prison [Map]. His daughter Katherine (age 26) succeeded 2nd Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire. According to a letter from Reverend Thomas Lorkin the date was the 5th of October and the location "at his lodgings in Holborn" - see Letter.

On 29th January 1622 Francis Norreys 1st Earl Berkshire (age 42) shot himself with a crossbow at Rycote, Oxfordshire [Map]; probably deliberately.

On 31st January 1622 he died. He was buried at Dorchester Abbey, Oxfordshire [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth (age 19) succeeded 3rd Baroness Norreys of Rycote. Earl Berkshire and Viscount Thame extinct.

Around 4th January 1626 Joane Ogle Countess Shrewsbury and Waterford (age 60) died. Her sister Catherine (age 56) abeyance terminated 8th Baroness Ogle.

On 30th September 1628 Fulk Greville 13th Baron Latimer 5th Baron Willoughby 1st Baron Brooke (age 73) was killed at his house in London by servant Ralph Haywood who believed that he had been cheated in his master's will; Haywood then turned the knife on himself. He was buried at St Mary's Church, Warwick [Map]. His sister Margaret (age 67) de jure 14th Baroness Latimer of Corby, 6th Baroness Willoughby Broke. Richard Verney 14th Baron Latimer 6th Baron Willoughby (age 65) by marriage Baron Latimer of Corby, Baron Willoughby Broke. His first cousin once removed Robert (age 21) succeeded 2nd Baron Brooke of Beauchamps Court in Warwickshire.

On 30th May 1630 Emanuel Scrope 1st Earl of Sunderland (age 45) died. Earl of Sunderland extinct. His aunt Mary de jure 12th Baroness Scrope of Bolton; she didn't claim the title.

After 30th May 1630 Mary Scrope died. Her daughter Catherine de jure 13th Baroness Scrope of Bolton.

On 17th December 1632 Francis Manners 6th Earl of Rutland (age 54) died at Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire [Map]. On 20th February 1633 he was buried at St Mary the Virgin Church, Bottesford, Leicestershire [Map]. His daughter Katherine (age 30) succeeded 18th Baroness Ros Helmsley. His brother George (age 52) succeeded 7th Earl of Rutland. Frances Carey Countess Rutland (age 61) by marriage Countess of Rutland.

On 14th June 1643 Charles Longueville 12th Baron Grey of Ruthyn (age 31) died. His daughter Susan succeeded 13th Baroness Grey of Ruthyn.

On 11th December 1643 Henry Clifford 5th Earl of Cumberland (age 52) died. Earl of Cumberland extinct. His daughter Elizabeth (age 30) succeeded 2nd Baroness Clifford.

Anne Clifford Countess Dorset and Pembroke (age 53) regained the estates she had been legally entitled to since her father died in 1605.

Around November 1645 Elizabeth Norreys 3rd Baroness Norreys Rycote (age 42) died. Her daughter Bridget (age 18) succeeded 4th Baroness Norreys of Rycote.

On 10th August 1660 Esmé Stewart 2nd Duke Richmond 5th Duke Lennox (age 11) died of smallpox at Paris [Map]. He was buried in on 04 Sep 1660 in the Richmond Vault, Westminster Abbey. His first cousin Charles (age 21) succeeded 6th Duke Lennox, 3rd Duke Richmond. 4th Earl March. Elizabeth Rogers Duchess Richmond by marriage Duchess Richmond. His sister Mary (age 9) succeeded 5th Baroness Clifton of Leighton Bromswold in Huntingdonshire.

On 1st March 1665 Thomas Wentworth 5th Baron Wentworth (age 53) died. His daughter Henrietta (age 4) succeeded 6th Baroness Wentworth.

On 25th March 1667 Thomas Wentworth 1st Earl Cleveland (age 76) died. Earl Cleveland extinct. His granddaughter Henrietta (age 6) de jure 10th Baroness Despencer.

On 23rd April 1686 Henrietta Marie Wentworth 6th Baroness Wentworth (age 25) died. She was buried at St George of England Church, Toddington. Her aunt Anne (age 62) succeeded 7th Baroness Wentworth, de jure 11th Baroness Despencer.

On or before 18th December 1689 Peter Eure (age 34) died. He was buried on 18th December 1689. His sister Mary (age 38) de jure 16th Baroness Scrope of Bolton.

On 21st July 1723 Anthony Grey 3rd Baron Lucas (age 28) died by choking on an ear of barley the beard of which stuck in his throat. Monument at the De Grey Mausoleum, Flitton [Map]. His niece Jemima succeeded 4th Baroness Lucas of Crudwell.

Anthony Grey 3rd Baron Lucas: On 21st February 1695 he was born to Henry Grey 1st Duke Kent and Jemima Crew Marchioness Kent. On 17th February 1718 Anthony Grey 3rd Baron Lucas and Mary Tufton Countess Gower were married. She the daughter of Thomas Tufton 6th Earl of Thanet and Catherine Cavendish Countess Isle Thanet. He the son of Henry Grey 1st Duke Kent and Jemima Crew Marchioness Kent. They were sixth cousins. On 8th November 1718 Anthony Grey 3rd Baron Lucas by writ of acceleration 3rd Baron Lucas of Crudwell.

On 3rd August 1734 Margaret Tufton Countess Leicester (age 34) abeyance terminated 19th Baroness de Clifford when she became the only living descendant of her father.

In 1739 Lucy Wharton Lady Morice died. Her sister Jane (age 33) abeyance terminated 7th Baroness Wharton.

On 27th April 1782 William Talbot 1st Earl Talbot (age 71) died at Lincoln's Inn. Earl Talbot extinct. His daughter Cecil (age 46) succeeded 2nd Baroness Dynevor of Dynevor in Camarthenshire. His nephew John (age 33) succeeded 3rd Baron Talbot of Hensol in Glamorganshire.

On 15th April 1787 William Boothby 4th Baronet (age 65) died unmarried. His first cousin once removed Brooke (age 76) succeeded 5th Baronet Boothby of Broadlow Ash in Derbyshire. Phoebe Hollins Lady Boothby (age 70) by marriage Lady Boothby of Broadlow Ash in Derbyshire.

His fifth cousin once removed Theophilus (age 60) de jure 11th Earl Huntingdon although he wasn't aware of the fact. On 4th February 1794 Charles Trevor Roper 18th Baron Dacre Gilsland (age 49) died. His sister Gertrude (age 43) succeeded 19th Baroness Dacre Gilsland, 18th Baroness Multon of Gilsland. Thomas Brand Baron Dacre (age 44) by marriage Baron Dacre Gilsland albeit for seventeen days only since he died on 21st February 1794.

On 11th January 1797 Jemima Campbell 2nd Marchioness Grey (age 73) died. Marquess Grey extinct. Her daughter Amabel (age 45) succeeded 5th Baroness Lucas of Crudwell. She was buried at the De Grey Mausoleum, Flitton [Map].

Amabel Yorke Countess Grey: On 22nd February 1751 she was born to Philip Yorke 2nd Earl of Hardwicke and Jemima Campbell 2nd Marchioness Grey. In 1816 Amabel Yorke Countess Grey was created 1st Countess de Grey with a special remainder to her sister Mary Jemima Yorke Baroness Grantham and her sister's male heirs.

On 5th August 1799 Richard Howe 1st Earl Howe (age 73) died. Earl Howe, Viscount Howe extinct. His daughter Sophia succeeded 2nd Baroness Howe. His brother William (age 69) succeeded 5th Viscount Howe, 5th Baron Glenawley. Frances Conolly Viscountess Howe by marriage Viscountess Howe.

In 1806 Charlotte Boyle 20th Baroness Ros of Helmsley (age 36) abeyance terminated 20th Baroness Ros Helmsley.

On 29th October 1810 Henry Gould Yelverton 19th Baron Grey Ruthyn (age 30) died without male issue. His daughter Barbara succeeded 20th Baroness Grey of Ruthyn aged seven months.

On 17th July 1813 Admiral Charles Middleton 1st Baron Barham (age 86) died. His daughter Diana (age 50) succeeded 2nd Baroness Barham.

She and her sister Elizabeth Frances Abney-Hastings Viscountess St Davids (age 36) had petitioned the Committee for Privileges for six titles Baron Strange Knockin, Baron Botreaux, Baron Hungerford, Baron Moleyns, Baron Stanley and Baron Hastings. The titles were shared three each between them.

He was participating in a training night exercise when his Mosquito intercepted a Stirling bomber returning from a leaflet dropping raid in Europe, following which the Mosquito crashed into the ground near Manningtree, Essex [Map], killing both Herbert and his navigator Albert Eastwood; possibly a friendly fire incident?
