On 25th June 1601 Peregrine Bertie 13th Baron Willoughby (age 45) died at Berwick on Tweed, Northumberland [Map]. His son Robert (age 18) succeeded 14th Baron Willoughby de Eresby. He was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map].

On 15th February 1610 Catherine Bertie (age 15) died in childbirth. She was buried at St James' Church, Spilsby [Map].

Monument Elizabethan Period. Tall Sideboard Tomb with reclining hooded figure of Lady Katherine, daughter of Peregrine, with Chrisom Child in the crib at her feet. Above a standing figure of Peregrine Bertie 13th Baron Willoughby in a niche, with strapwork embellishments, all supported on composite columns with a dentilated cornice.

Possibly the worh of Samuel Baldwin.

Catherine Bertie: Around 1595 she was born to Peregrine Bertie 13th Baron Willoughby and Mary Vere Baroness Willoughby of Eresby. Sources are confused about her birth year stating she was born in 1610 and that she married in 1609. Date adjusted to around 1595 on the assumption she was married around twenty years of age. Her son died at six days old on 09 Feb 1610. Her father died in 1601. Sources also refer to her as Baroness Rockingham whereas she died some eleven years before her husband was created Baron Rockingham. In 1609 Lewis Watson 1st Baron Rockingham and she were married.

In 4th March 1606 Edward Fitton (age 58) died. On 5th February 1627 Alice Holcroft (age 66) died. Monument at Church of St James, Gawsworth [Map]. The monument originally stood against the east wall, away from the north wall, with the kneeling figures of the children at each corner. Sir Edward's effigy is lost and there is no record when it was last in situ at Gawsworth. Note the remodelled head of the second son, Richard.

Alice Holcroft: In 1540 she was born to John Holcroft. In or before 1572 Edward Fitton and she were married.

On 24th September 1607 Clement Spelman of Narborough died. In 1647 Ursula Willoughby (age 14) died. They were buried at All Saints Church, Narborough [Map]. Elbow Reclining Figure. Stuart Hooded Monument. Possibly Cornelius Cure.

Clement Spelman of Narborough: he was born to John Spelman of and Margaret Blennerhasset. The mother assumed based on his father having married Margaret but not certain she is his only wife. In 1602 Clement Spelman of Narborough and Anne Carvill were married. Before 12th September 1606 Clement Spelman of Narborough and Ursula Willoughby were married.

Ursula Willoughby: Around 1593 she was born to John Willoughby of Risley.

After 19th March 1612. Stuart Hooded Monument monument with a figure leaning on their elbow to Mary Dawnay Baroness Eure (deceased) at St Laurence's Church, Ludlow [Map]. The monument is now in the south transept but was originally in a more prestigious position at the east end of the chancel, on the south side, opposite the Townshend tomb. It was moved when the chancel was restored by Scott in 1859-60. The figure of Lady Eure was originally painted: traces of black paint can still be seen in the folds of her elaborate dress. The inscription ... Here lyeth expecting a joyful resurrection the body of Dame Mary Eure late wife to the Right Ho Ralph Lord Eure (age 53) Baron of Malton, Lord President of the Principality and Marches of Wales and Leiutenant of the same and daughter of Sir John Dawney of Sessey in the County of York she departed this life the 19th day of March 1612 at the age of 55.

Mary Dawnay Baroness Eure: Around 1557 she was born to John Dawnay of Sessay, Yorkshire and Elizabeth Tunstall. In or before 1578 Ralph Eure 3rd Baron Eure and she were married. They were half fourth cousins. In 1594 William Eure 2nd Baron Eure died. In 1594 His son Ralph succeeded 3rd Baron Eure. She by marriage Baroness Eure. On 19th March 1612 Mary Dawnay Baroness Eure died.

After 31st October 1612. Church of St Peter and St Paul, Easton Maudit [Map]. Monument to Christopher Yelverton (deceased) and Margaret Catesby was buried at Church of St Peter and St Paul, Easton Maudit [Map]. Early canopied Stuart Hooded Monument with eight daughters shown on one side, four sons on the other. The posts support a canopy of two semicircular arches with coffered soffits, urn ornaments at the angles, and shields of arms.

Christopher Yelverton: In 1536 he was born to William Yelverton and Amy Fermor. Before 29th June 1566 Christopher Yelverton and Margaret Catesby were married. On 24th November 1597 he was appointed Speaker of the House of Commons. On 31st October 1612 Christopher Yelverton died at his seventy room house in Easton Maudit.

Margaret Catesby: In 1543 she was born to Thomas Catesby of Whiston. In 1611 Margaret Catesby died.

On 24th May 1616 Margaret Russell Countess Cumberland (age 55) died at Brougham Castle [Map]. She was buried in St Lawrence's Church, Appleby-in-Westmoreland [Map]. Finely carved alabaster. Stuart Hooded Monument, Shroud Monument, with Coronet. By Maximilian Colt (age 41).

On 18th April 1621 Bridget Chaworth (age 79) died. Monument in St Andrew's Church, Ufford [Map]. Marble with Corinthian Columns and reclining effigy. Stuart Hooded Monument.

The inscription reads "Dame Bridget, Lady Carr, widow, daughter of Sir John Chaworth of Wiverton, Nottingham, late wife to Sir William Carr of Old Sleaford in the county of Lincoln, who served the late Queen Elizabeth of most famous memory, being one of the gentlewomen of her Majesty's Privy Chamber for the space of five and twenty years, and afterwards served the most renowned Queen Anne, wife to our most gracious sovereign, King James, for the space of 14 years, being the residue of her life, and died the 18th day of April being of the age of 79 years, the which said Lady Carr, out of her love to her dear sister Katherine, the wife of George Quarles of this town of Ufford, esquire, hath caused her body to be here interred 1621".

Katherine Chaworth: Before 1621 George Quarles of Ufford and she were married.

George Quarles of Ufford: he was born to Francis Quarles of Ufford.

On 14th November 1627 Elizabeth Waldegrave died. On 6th December 1629 Arthur Coke (age 40) died in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk [Map]. Stuart Hooded Monument sculpted by Nicholas Stone (age 40) in St Andrew's Church, Bramfield [Map]. White and black marble; reclining effigy of Elizabeth with Arthur kneeling in prayer above within an arched Recess; Arms over the arch and surrounding it are seven Cartouche's.

Elizabeth Waldegrave: she was born to George Waldegrave. On 8th February 1608 Arthur Coke and she were married at Hitcham, Norfolk as recorded in the papers of the Winthrop Family Folio 36: "The viijth of Feb. beinge Shrovetuesday the L Cokes seconde soonne maryed the daughter and heire of Sir George Waldegrave at Hiccham". The Hitcham Register gives 09 Feb as the date of the marriage.

Arthur Coke: In 1587 he was born to Edward Coke and Bridget Paston.

August 1629. Canopied mural monument in marble and alabaster to Frances Palmer nee Harvey died 1628 wife of Edward Palmer Counseller at Law. Antedates the present church. Stuart Hooded Monument. It shows her recling head on hand propped up by elbow, attended by her kneeling husband. Two children, possibly originally a third. Four skulls probably indicating children who had predeceased her. Church of St Rumbold, Stoke Doyle [Map].

After 1630. Church of St Leonard, Rodney Stoke [Map]. Monument to Anne Lake Baroness Ros of Helmsley (deceased). Finely crafted in Watchet Alabaster. Stuart Hooded Monument.

On 24th January 1630 Henry Yelverton (age 63) died. He was buried at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Easton Maudit [Map].

On 29th April 1625 Mary Beale (age 43) died. She was buried at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Easton Maudit [Map].

Elaborate canopied Stuart Hooded Monument of alabaster, the effigies one above the other, with the figures of four sons and five daughters below. The canopy is supported by bedesmen in black gowns, and is surmounted by figures of Faith, Hope, and Charity. Above is an inscribed panel surrounded by books on end and various linked symbols with winged cherubs above. Large caryatids representing hooded bedesmen to left and right. Arch above with 3 standing figures and 2 hour-glasses on sculls.

Mary Beale: Around 1582 she was born to Robert Beale. Before 27th March 1602 Henry Yelverton and she were married. She the daughter of Robert Beale.

After 23rd April 1623. Monument to George Manners (deceased) and Grace Pierrepont (age 48) at All Saint's Church, Bakewell, Derbyshire [Map]. Stuart Kneeling monument representing them and their nine children, four boys (one died an infant) on the left, five girls on the right.

The armorials include: Manners Augmented Arms Manners Augmented with a Crescent difference.
