Biography of William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet 1729-1805

In October 1729 William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet was born to James Johnstone 3rd Baronet (age 32) and Barbara Murray.

In October 1729 William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet and Frances Pulteney (age 14) were married.

On 7th July 1764 William Pulteney 1st Earl Bath (age 80) died. Earl Bath extinct. His estates were inherited by [his wife] Frances Pulteney (age 49) nad her husband William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet (age 34).

On 26th December 1766 [his daughter] Henrietta Laura Johnstone aka Pulteney 1st Countess Bath was born to William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet (age 37) and [his wife] Frances Pulteney (age 51).

On 10th December 1772 [his father] James Johnstone 3rd Baronet (age 75) died. His son [his brother] James (age 46) succeeded 4th Baronet Johnstone of Westerhall in Dumfries.

In 1791 [his brother] James Johnstone 4th Baronet (age 64) was elected MP Weymouth and Melcombe Regis which seat he held until his death in 1794. His brother William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet (age 61) had requested the sitting MP Thomas Tyrwhitt aka Tyrwhitt-Jones 1st Baronet (age 25) to stand down forcing a by-election which James won.

On 3rd September 1794 [his brother] James Johnstone 4th Baronet (age 68) died. His brother William (age 64) succeeded 5th Baronet Johnstone of Westerhall in Dumfries. [his wife] Frances Pulteney (age 79) by marriage Lady Johnstone of Westerhall in Dumfries.

On 30th May 1805 William Johnstone aka Pulteney 5th Baronet (age 75) died intestate in Bath House. His nephew John succeeded 6th Baronet Johnstone of Westerhall in Dumfries.

On 14th July 1808 [his former wife] Frances Pulteney (age 93) died.
