On 05 Mar 1629 [her son] Philip Howard was born to [her husband] Thomas Howard 1st Earl Berkshire (age 41) and Elizabeth Cecil Countess Berkshire (age 33).

On 25 May 1632 William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury (age 88) died. His eldest son His brother Edward Knollys de jure 2nd Earl Banbury, 2nd Viscount Wallingford, 2nd Baron Knollys. Parliament disallowed the succession on the basis that Edward (age 5) had been born when William was some eighty-two years old and Edward was, in fact, the son of Edward Vaux 4th Baron Vaux Harrowden (age 43) whom Edward's [her sister-in-law] mother (age 49) subsequently married around a month after William's death.

Gunpowder Plot

Around 30 Jun 1632 Edward Vaux 4th Baron Vaux Harrowden (age 43) and [her sister-in-law] Elizabeth Howard Countess Banbury (age 49) were married some five weeks after the death of her first husband William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury (deceased) on 25 May 1632. They, Edward and Elizabeth, when teenagers, had been subject to marriage negotiations which broke down as a consequence of the Gunpowder Plot and she had married William Knollys 1st Earl Banbury some forty years her senior. She the daughter of [her father-in-law] Thomas Howard 1st Earl Suffolk and [her mother-in-law] Catherine Knyvet Countess Suffolk (age 68).

On 23 Aug 1632 [her sister-in-law] Frances Howard Countess Essex and Somerset (age 42) died.

On 03 Sep 1634 Edward Coke (age 82) died. Monument in Church of St Mary the Virgin, Tittleshall [Map]. Simple sarcophagus on pedestal with lying effigy. Pair of flanking Tuscan columns supporting a full entablature with putti on frieze and broken segmental pediment. Carved and painted achievement in and above tympanum flanked by four reclining figures of the Virtues on pediment extrados.

Above. Quarterly of eight: Coke Arms, Crispin, Folkard, Sparham, Nerford, Yarmouth, Knightley Arms and Pawe. The crest is broken. Farrer says it was: On a chapeau Azure, turned up Ermine, an ostrich Argent, holding in its mouth a horseshoe Or. The motto reads Prudens qui Patiens.

The effigy was carved by John Hargrave, the rest of the memorial was made by Nicholas Stone (age 47).

Below the effigy are three shields. Left Coke Arms implaling Paston Arms. His first wife Bridget Paston. Middle Coke Arms. Right Coke Arms impaling Cecil Arms; his second wife Elizabeth Cecil Countess Berkshire (age 38).

Bridget Paston: she was born to John Paston. On 13 Aug 1582 Edward Coke and she were married. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

In 1636 [her daughter] Diana Howard was born to [her husband] Thomas Howard 1st Earl Berkshire (age 48) and Elizabeth Cecil Countess Berkshire (age 40).

On 10 Apr 1637 [her son] Charles Howard 2nd Earl Berkshire (age 22) and [her daughter-in-law] Dorothy Savage Countess Berkshire were married. She the daughter of Thomas Savage 1st Viscount Savage and Elizabeth Darcy 1st Countess Rivers (age 56). He the son of [her husband] Thomas Howard 1st Earl Berkshire (age 49) and Elizabeth Cecil Countess Berkshire (age 41). They were third cousin once removed.
