On 3rd December 1863 [his father] Samuel Clowes [aged 42] and [his mother] Adelaide Cavendish [aged 22] were married.

On 7th May 1867 Arthur Clowes was born to Samuel Clowes [aged 46] and Adelaide Cavendish [aged 26].

In 1886 Arthur Clowes [aged 18] joined the Worcestershire Militia.

In 1888 Arthur Clowes [aged 20] was commissioned in the 1st Life Guards, reaching the rank of Captain. After retiring he was gazetted to the Staffordshire Yeomanry with the honourary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

On 31st December 1898 [his father] Samuel Clowes [aged 77] died.

On 12th September 1899 Arthur Clowes [aged 32] and Lucy Littleton [aged 23] were married.

On or before 21st July 1900, the date he was baptised at the Church of St Barlok, Norbury [Map], [his son] Henry Samuel Littleton Clowes was born to Arthur Clowes [aged 33] and [his wife] Lucy Littleton [aged 23].

On 3rd September 1901 [his son] Legh Algernon Clowes was born to Arthur Clowes [aged 34] and [his wife] Lucy Littleton [aged 25]. He was baptised at the Church of St Barlok, Norbury [Map] on 23rd September 1901.

Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. On 4th March 1903 [his daughter] Margaret Violet Louisa Clowes was born to Arthur Clowes [aged 35] and [his wife] Lucy Littleton [aged 26]. He was baptised at the Church of St Barlok, Norbury [Map] on 23rd September 1901. She married 1925 her half third cousin Lionel George Archer Cust.

In 1908 Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Arthur Clowes [aged 40] was appointed High Sheriff of Derbyshire.

On 8th March 1916 Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Arthur Clowes [aged 48] died of typhoid whilst on active service at Cairo. He was buried at the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery Plot D.344.

On 1st June 1970 [his former wife] Lucy Littleton [aged 93] died.
