Around 1707 [his father] Richard Shuttleworth [aged 23] and [his mother] Emma Tempest [aged 27] were married. They had five sons and three daughters
In 1714 James Shuttleworth was elected MP Preston which seat he held until 1754.
In 1714 James Shuttleworth was born to Richard Shuttleworth [aged 30] and Emma Tempest [aged 34].
In October 1725 [his mother] Emma Tempest [aged 45] died.
On 25th May 1742 James Shuttleworth [aged 28] and Mary Holden were married at All Saints Church, Aston-on-Trent [Map]. They had four sons and three daughters.
On 22nd December 1749 [his father] Richard Shuttleworth [aged 66] died. His son James Shuttleworth [aged 35] inherited Gawthorpe Hall [Map]
In 1760 James Shuttleworth [aged 46] was appointed High Sheriff of Yorkshire.
In 1761 James Shuttleworth [aged 47] was elected MP Lancashire whchi seat he held until 1768.
On 28th June 1773 James Shuttleworth [aged 59] died. He was buried at St Cuthbert's Church, Forcett.
