On 25th April 1582 [his father] Christian Wettin I Elector Saxony [aged 21] and [his mother] Sophie of Brandenburg [aged 13] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Augustus Wettin Elector of Saxony [aged 55] and [his grandmother] Anna Oldenburg [aged 49]. They were third cousins.
On 5th March 1585 John George Elector Saxony was born to Christian Wettin I Elector Saxony [aged 24] and Sophie of Brandenburg [aged 16].
On 11th February 1586 [his grandfather] Augustus Wettin Elector of Saxony [aged 59] died. His son [his father] Christian [aged 25] succeeded Elector Saxony.
On 25th September 1591 [his father] Christian Wettin I Elector Saxony [aged 30] died. His son John [aged 6] succeeded Elector Saxony.
In 1604 John George Elector Saxony [aged 18] and Sibylla Elisabeth of Württemberg [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of Frederick I Duke Württemberg [aged 46] and Sibylla of Anhalt [aged 39]. He the son of Christian Wettin I Elector Saxony and Sophie of Brandenburg [aged 35]. They were half third cousin once removed.
On 20th January 1606 [his wife] Sibylla Elisabeth of Württemberg [aged 21] died from childbirth after the birth of a stillborn son.
In 1607 John George Elector Saxony [aged 21] and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Albert Frederick Hohenzollern Duke Prussia [aged 53] and Marie Eleonore de la Marck [aged 56]. He the son of Christian Wettin I Elector Saxony and Sophie of Brandenburg [aged 38]. They were second cousin once removed.
On 23rd November 1609 [his daughter] Sophie Eleonore of Saxony was born to John George Elector Saxony [aged 24] and [his wife] Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 22]. She married 1st April 1627 her fourth cousin Landgrave George II of Hesse-Darmstadt and had issue.
On 22nd November 1610 [his daughter] Marie Elisabeth of Saxony Duchess Holstein Gottorp was born to John George Elector Saxony [aged 25] and [his wife] Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 23]. She married 21st February 1630 Frederick III Duke of Holstein Gottorp and had issue.

On 7th December 1622 [his mother] Sophie of Brandenburg [aged 54] died.
On 1st April 1627 [his son-in-law] Landgrave George II of Hesse-Darmstadt [aged 22] and Sophie Eleonore of Saxony [aged 17] were married. They had three sons and twelve daughters. She the daughter of John George Elector Saxony [aged 42] and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 40]. They were fourth cousins.
On 21st February 1630 [his son-in-law] Frederick III Duke of Holstein Gottorp [aged 32] and Marie Elisabeth of Saxony Duchess Holstein Gottorp [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of John George Elector Saxony [aged 44] and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 43].
On 23rd November 1647 Augustus Duke of Saxe Weissenfels [aged 33] and Anna Maria of Mecklenburg-Schwerin [aged 20] were married. He the son of John George Elector Saxony [aged 62] and Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 60]. They were half second cousin once removed.
On 8th October 1656 John George Elector Saxony [aged 71] died. His son John [aged 43] succeeded Elector Saxony.
On 22nd February 1659 [his former wife] Magdalene Sibylle of Prussia [aged 72] died.
