On 6th August 1857 [her father] James Grant-Suttie 6th Baronet [aged 27] and [her mother] Susan Harriet Innes-Kerr [aged 19] were married. She the daughter of [her grandfather] James Innes-Kerr 6th Duke Roxburghe [aged 41].
On 11th February 1859 Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie was born to James Grant-Suttie 6th Baronet [aged 28] and Susan Harriet Innes-Kerr [aged 21].
On 10th April 1878 John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 29] and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 19] were married. He the son of John Dalrymple 10th Earl of Stair [aged 59].
On 30th October 1878 [her father] James Grant-Suttie 6th Baronet [aged 48] died.
On 1st February 1879 [her son] John James Dalrymple 12th Earl of Stair was born to [her husband] John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 30] and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 19].
On 3rd December 1903 [her father-in-law] John Dalrymple 10th Earl of Stair [aged 84] died. His succeeded son [her husband] John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 55] succeeded 11th Earl of Stair.
In 1905 John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 56] and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 45] were divorced.
On 15th July 1905 Neil James Menzies 8th Baronet [aged 50] and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 46] were married.
On 1st June 1908 [her son-in-law] Archibald Montgomerie 16th Earl of Eglinton [aged 27] and Beatrice Susan Dalrymple Countess Eglinton were married. She the daughter of John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 59] and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 49]. He the son of George Montgomerie 15th Earl of Eglinton [aged 60].
This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

On 16th October 1909 [her mother] Susan Harriet Innes-Kerr [aged 71] died. Her funeral was held on 21st October 1909 at Prestonpans Parish Church. All Prestonpans shops and businesses were closed from midday as a mark of respect, with residents of the town lining the streets as her funeral cortege passed by. Her body was then conveyed on a special train service to Dunbar [Map] where she was buried. The pallbearers at Dunbar included her sons-in-law, Sir Neil Menzies [aged 54], Bart-the second husband of her daughter Susan [aged 50] and George Smith, her grandson John James Dalrymple 12th Earl of Stair [aged 30], her nephew the Henry John Innes-Kerr 8th Duke Roxburghe [aged 33], plus Lord Charles Innes Kerr [aged 66], Mr Robert Grant Suttie [aged 67], Lord Montgomerie and Mr John Russel carried her coffin from the station to the churchyard. In 1911 a plaque to her memory was unveiled at Prestonpans Parish Church.
On 21st December 1910 [her husband] Neil James Menzies 8th Baronet [aged 55] died.
On 2nd December 1914 [her former husband] John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair [aged 66] died. His succeeded son John James Dalrymple 12th Earl of Stair [aged 35] succeeded 12th Earl of Stair.
In 1922 [her son-in-law] Archibald Montgomerie 16th Earl of Eglinton [aged 41] and [her daughter] Beatrice Susan Dalrymple Countess Eglinton were divorced.
On 9th February 1946 Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie [aged 86] died.
[her daughter] Beatrice Susan Dalrymple Countess Eglinton was born to John Dalrymple 11th Earl of Stair and Susan Harriet Grant-Suttie. She married (1) 1st June 1908 Archibald Montgomerie 16th Earl of Eglinton, son of George Montgomerie 15th Earl of Eglinton, and had issue.
