On 25th September 1625 [his father] Thomas Lucas [aged 66] died.
On 17th December 1628 John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 22] and Mary Neville [aged 17] were married.
In 1633 John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 26] was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
Around 1644 [his daughter] Mary Lucas Countess Kent was born to John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 37] and [his wife] Mary Neville [aged 33]. She married 2nd March 1662 Anthony Grey 11th Earl Kent, son of Henry Grey 10th Earl Kent and Amabel Benn Countess Kent, and had issue.
In 1645 [his brother-in-law] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne [aged 52] and [his sister] Margaret Lucas Duchess Newcastle upon Tyne [aged 22] were married. The difference in their ages was 30 years. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 4 grandson of King Edward IV of England.
On 3rd January 1645 King Charles I [aged 44] rewarded his supporters with Baronies...
John Brooke 1st Baron Cobham [aged 69] was created 1st Baron Cobham. Frances Bampfield Baroness Cobham by marriage Baroness Cobham.
John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 38] was created 1st Baron Lucas of Shenfield with special remainder to the male issue of his brother Thomas Lucas [aged 66].
On 14th June 1645 Maurice Palatinate Simmern [aged 24] fought at Naseby, Northamptonshire [Map] during the Battle of Naseby for the Royalist army.
John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 38] fought for the King.
Colonel John Russell [aged 25] was wounded.
On 22nd August 1660 [his wife] Mary Neville [aged 49] died.
Between 2nd March 1662 and 1671 [his son-in-law] Anthony Grey 11th Earl Kent [aged 16] and [his daughter] Mary Lucas Countess Kent [aged 18] were married. She by marriage Countess Kent. He the son of Henry Grey 10th Earl Kent and Amabel Benn Countess Kent [aged 54].
In 1665 [his brother-in-law] William Cavendish 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne [aged 72] was created 1st Duke Newcastle upon Tyne by King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland [aged 34]. [his sister] Margaret Lucas Duchess Newcastle upon Tyne [aged 42] by marriage Duchess Newcastle upon Tyne.
John Evelyn's Diary. 25th April 1667. Visited again the [his brother-in-law] Duke of Newcastle [aged 74], with whom I had been acquainted long before in France, where the Duchess [aged 44] had obligation to my wife's [aged 32] mother for her marriage there; she was sister to Lord Lucas [aged 60], and maid of honor then to the Queen-Mother [aged 57]; married in our chapel at Paris. My wife being with me, the Duke and Duchess both would needs bring her to the very Court.
On 2nd July 1671 John Lucas 1st Baron Lucas Shenfield [aged 64] died. His nephew Charles [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Baron Lucas of Shenfield although technically illegitimate his parents had married after his birth.
