On 13th December 1686 John Curzon 1st Baronet [aged 88] died. His son Nathaniel [aged 46] succeeded 2nd Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 2nd Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia. Sarah Penn Baroness Curzon [aged 31] by marriage Lady Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire.

In 1719 Nathaniel Curzon 2nd Baronet [aged 79] died. His son John [aged 45] succeeded 3rd Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 3rd Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia.

On 6th August 1727 John Curzon 3rd Baronet [aged 53] died having been thrown from his horse whilst hunting. His brother Nathaniel [aged 51] succeeded 4th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 4th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia. Mary Assheton Baroness Curzon [aged 33] by marriage Lady Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire.

On 16th November 1758 Nathaniel Curzon 4th Baronet [aged 82] died. His son Nathaniel [aged 32] succeeded 5th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 5th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia. Esther Hanmer Baroness Curzon [aged 20] by marriage Lady Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire.

On 5th December 1804 Nathaniel Curzon 1st Baron Scarsdale [aged 78] died. His son Nathaniel [aged 52] succeeded 2nd Baron Scarsdale, 6th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 6th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia. Félicité Anne Josephe de Wattines Lady Scarsdale [aged 39] by marriage Baroness Scarsdale.

On 27th January 1837 Nathaniel Curzon 2nd Baron Scarsdale [aged 84] died. His son Nathaniel [aged 56] succeeded 3rd Baron Scarsdale, 7th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 7th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia.

On 12th November 1856 Nathaniel Curzon 3rd Baron Scarsdale [aged 75] died. His nephew Alfred [aged 25] succeeded 4th Baron Scarsdale, 8th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 8th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia. Blanche Pocklington Senhouse Baroness Scarsdale [aged 19] by marriage Baroness Scarsdale.

On 23rd March 1916 Alfred Nathaniel Holden Curzon 4th Baron Scarsdale [aged 84] died. His son George [aged 57] succeeded 5th Baron Scarsdale, 9th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 9th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia.

Memoires of Jacques du Clercq

This is a translation of the 'Memoires of Jacques du Clercq', published in 1823 in two volumes, edited by Frederic, Baron de Reissenberg. In his introduction Reissenberg writes: 'Jacques du Clercq tells us that he was born in 1424, and that he was a licentiate in law and a counsellor to Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, in the castellany of Douai, Lille, and Orchies. It appears that he established his residence at Arras. In 1446, he married the daughter of Baldwin de la Lacherie, a gentleman who lived in Lille. We read in the fifth book of his Memoirs that his father, also named Jacques du Clercq, had married a lady of the Le Camelin family, from Compiègne. His ancestors, always attached to the counts of Flanders, had constantly served them, whether in their councils or in their armies.' The Memoires cover a period of nineteen years beginning in in 1448, ending in in 1467. It appears that the author had intended to extend the Memoirs beyond that date; no doubt illness or death prevented him from carrying out this plan. As Reissenberg writes the 'merit of this work lies in the simplicity of its narrative, in its tone of good faith, and in a certain air of frankness which naturally wins the reader’s confidence.' Du Clercq ranges from events of national and international importance, including events of the Wars of the Roses in England, to simple, everyday local events such as marriages, robberies, murders, trials and deaths, including that of his own father in Book 5; one of his last entries.

In 1977 Richard Curzon 2nd Viscount Scarsdale [aged 78] died. His first cousin Francis [aged 52] succeeded 3rd Viscount Scarsdale of Scarsdale in Derbyshire, 7th Baron Scarsdale, 11th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 11th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia.

On 2nd August 2000 Francis Curzon 3rd Viscount Scarsdale [aged 76] died. His son Peter [aged 51] succeeded 4th Viscount Scarsdale of Scarsdale in Derbyshire, 8th Baron Scarsdale, 12th Baronet Curzon of Kedleston in Derbyshire, 12th Baronet Curzon of Nova Scotia.
