He the son of John Montagu 5th Earl Sandwich [aged 60] and Maria Henrietta Powlett.
On 8th November 1811 John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich was born to George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich [aged 38] and Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich [aged 30]. He was educated at Eton College [Map].
On 6th June 1814 [his grandfather] John Montagu 5th Earl Sandwich [aged 70] died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map]. His son [his father] George [aged 41] succeeded 6th Earl Sandwich. [his mother] Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich [aged 33] by marriage Countess Sandwich.
On 21st May 1818 [his father] George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich [aged 45] died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map]. His son John [aged 6] succeeded 7th Earl Sandwich.
On 12th April 1823 [his brother-in-law] Bingham Baring 2nd Baron Ashburton [aged 23] and [his sister] Harriet Mary Montagu Baroness Ashburton [aged 17] were married. She the daughter of [his father] George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich and [his mother] Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich [aged 42].
In October 1829, Michaelmas Term, John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 17] matriculated Trinity College, Cambridge University [Map].
On 5th July 1831 John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 19] played for the Cambridge University cricket team against Cambridge Town; he scored two runs.

She the daughter of Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 70] and Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey [aged 57]. He the son of George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich and Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich [aged 57].
The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy
The Gesta Normannorum Ducum [The Deeds of the Dukes of Normandy] is a landmark medieval chronicle tracing the rise and fall of the Norman dynasty from its early roots through the pivotal events surrounding the Norman Conquest of England. Originally penned in Latin by the monk William of Jumièges shortly before 1060 and later expanded at the behest of William the Conqueror, the work chronicles the deeds, politics, battles, and leadership of the Norman dukes, especially William’s own claim to the English throne. The narrative combines earlier historical sources with firsthand information and oral testimony to present an authoritative account of Normandy’s transformation from a Viking settlement into one of medieval Europe’s most powerful realms. William’s history emphasizes the legitimacy, military prowess, and governance of the Norman line, framing their expansion, including the conquest of England, as both divinely sanctioned and noble in purpose. In 1841 John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 29] was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Huntingdonshire which office he held for life.
On 20th April 1841 [his son] Rear-Admiral Victor Alexander Montagu was born to John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 29] and [his wife] Mary Paget Countess Sandwich [aged 28]. He married before 1913 Agneta Harriet Yorke, daughter of Charles Yorke 4th Earl of Hardwicke and Susan Liddell Countess Hardwicke, and had issue.
On 12th August 1842 [his son] Sydney Montagu was born to John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 30] and [his wife] Mary Paget Countess Sandwich [aged 30].
In 1846 [his daughter] Emily Caroline Montagu Lady Dyke was born to John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 34] and [his wife] Mary Paget Countess Sandwich [aged 33]. She married 30th May 1870 William Hart Dyke 7th Baronet, son of Percival Hart Dyke 6th Baronet, and had issue.
On 27th April 1847 Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley [aged 74] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Henry [aged 42] succeeded 2nd Baron Cowley.
On 12th May 1848 Alexander Baring 1st Baron Ashburton [aged 73] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Bingham [aged 48] succeeded 2nd Baron Ashburton of Ashburton in Devon. [his sister] Harriet Mary Montagu Baroness Ashburton [aged 42] by marriage Baroness Ashburton of Ashburton in Devon.

The True Chronicles of Jean le Bel offer one of the most vivid and immediate accounts of 14th-century Europe, written by a knight who lived through the events he describes, and experienced some of them first hand. On 19th April 1862 [his mother] Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich [aged 81] died. She was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map].
In 1865 John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 53] and Blanche Leveson-Gower aka Egerton Countess Sandwich [aged 32] were married. She by marriage Countess Sandwich. The difference in their ages was 20 years. She the daughter of Francis Leveson Gower aka Egerton 1st Earl Ellesmere and Harriet Greville Countess Ellesmere [aged 62]. He the son of George Montagu 6th Earl Sandwich and Louisa Lowry-Corry Countess of Sandwich. They were fifth cousins.
On 30th May 1870 [his son-in-law] William Hart Dyke 7th Baronet [aged 32] and Emily Caroline Montagu Lady Dyke [aged 24] were married. She the daughter of John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 58] and Mary Paget Countess Sandwich.
On 3rd March 1884 John William Montagu 7th Earl Sandwich [aged 72] died. He was buried at All Saints Church, Barnwell [Map] on 16th June 1884 at which time the Montagu vault was closed. His son Edward [aged 44] succeeded 8th Earl Sandwich.
Jean de Waurin's Chronicle of England Volume 6 Books 3-6: The Wars of the Roses
Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
