Around 1341 John Lovell 5th Baron Lovel, Baron Holand was born to John Lovell 3rd Baron Lovel [aged 26] and Isabel Zouche [aged 21]. Coefficient of inbreeding 3.23%.

On 16th March 1373 Robert Holland 2nd Baron Holand [aged 62] died. His sister [his future wife] Maud [aged 63] succeeded 3rd Baroness Holand.
In or before 1375 John Lovell 5th Baron Lovel, Baron Holand [aged 33] and Maud Holland 3rd Baroness Holand, Baroness Lovel [aged 64] were married. She by marriage Baroness Lovel of Titchmarsh. He by marriage Baron Holand. The difference in their ages was 31 years; she, unusually, being older than him. They were fourth cousins. He married in or before 1397 his half second cousin Eleanor Zouche Baroness Lovel, daughter of William Zouche 3rd Baron Zouche Harringworth and Agnes Greene Baroness Zouche Harringworth, and had issue.
On 10th May 1380 [his wife] Maud Holland 3rd Baroness Holand, Baroness Lovel [aged 70] died. Her grandson William succeeded 4th Baron Holand.
