In 1825 [his father] William Jolliffe 1st Baron Hylton (age 24) and [his mother] Eleanor Paget were married.

On 23 Jun 1829 Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton was born to William Jolliffe 1st Baron Hylton (age 28) and Eleanor Paget.

Battle of Alma

On 20 Sep 1854 Charles Pierrepont Darcy Lane-Fox (age 24) was wounded, Poulett George Henry Somerset (age 32) fought.

Major-General John Douglas (age 37) commanded the 79th Regiment of Foot.

William Frederick Waldegrave (age 38) died from wounds received.

Henry Hugh Manvers Percy (age 37) was shot through the arm.

General George Augustus Frederick Paget (age 36), Godfrey Morgan 1st Viscount Tredegar (age 23) and Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 25) fought.

Arthur Williams-Wynn (age 35), Captain of the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers, was killed.

Charge of the Light Brigade

On 25 Oct 1854 Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 25) took part in the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Godfrey Morgan 1st Viscount Tredegar (age 23) was in command of a section of the Light Brigade. His horse "Sir Briggs" survived, died aged twenty-eight and was buried in the Cedar Garden at Tredegar House, Monmouthshire where there is a monument to him.

Thomas Hutton took part. He was shot through the right thigh during the advance, and on returning from the guns he was again severely wounded through the left thigh.

George Orby Wombwell 4th Baronet (age 21) took part and survived. His horse was killed under him and he was shortly after pulled off and taken prisoner, his sword and pistols being taken from him by some Russian Lancers. He managed to escape, catch another loose horse and ride back to the British lines, pursued by Russians.

Fiennes Wykeham-Martin Cornwallis (age 22) took part.

In 1858 Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 28) and Agnes Mary Georgiana Byng (age 24) were married. She the daughter of George Byng 2nd Earl Strafford (age 51) and Agnes Paget. They were second cousins.

On 23 Jul 1862 [his mother] Eleanor Paget died.

On 16 Jul 1866 [his father] William Jolliffe 1st Baron Hylton (age 65) was created 1st Baron Hylton of Hylton in County Durham.

On 19 Jan 1867 [his father] William Jolliffe 1st Baron Hylton (age 66) and [his step-mother] Sophia Penelope Sheffield Countess Ilchester (age 25) were married. She by marriage Baroness Hylton of Hylton in County Durham. The difference in their ages was 41 years.

In 1872 Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 42) and Agnes Mary Georgiana Byng (age 38) were divorced.

On 01 Jun 1876 [his father] William Jolliffe 1st Baron Hylton (age 75) died. His son Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 46) succeeded 2nd Baron Hylton of Hylton in County Durham.

On 07 Apr 1878 [his former wife] Agnes Mary Georgiana Byng (age 44) died.

In 1887 [his former brother-in-law] Alfred John George Byng (age 36) died.

On 11 Jun 1890 John Richard de Clare Boscawen (age 29) and [his former sister-in-law] Margaret Florence Lucy Byng (age 29) were married. She the daughter of George Byng 2nd Earl Strafford and Harriet Cavendish Countess Strafford (age 69).

In 1899 [his former sister-in-law] Victoria Alexandrina Anna Maria Byng (age 56) died.

On 31 Oct 1899 Hedworth Joliffe 2nd Baron Hylton (age 70) died.

Battle of Inkerman

Poulett George Henry Somerset fought; his horse was killed under him by a shell.

William Archer Amherst 3rd Earl Amherst was wounded.
