In 1354 Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 44) and Margaret Plantagenet 2nd Countess Norfolk were married. She by marriage Baroness Manny. She the daughter of Thomas of Brotherton 1st Earl Norfolk and Alice Hales Countess Norfolk. She a granddaughter of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England.
On 12 Jan 1372 Walter Manny 1st Baron Manny (age 62) died. His daughter Anne Manny Countess Pembroke succeeded 2nd Baroness Manny. John Hastings 2nd Earl Pembroke (age 24) by marriage Baron Manny.
In 1384 Anne Manny Countess Pembroke died. Her son John Hastings 3rd Earl Pembroke (age 11) succeeded 3rd Baron Manny.
On 30 Dec 1389 John Hastings 3rd Earl Pembroke (age 17) was killed in a tournament during the Christmas Court at Woodstock Palace, Oxfordshire [Map]. He was struck in the groin by the lance of Sir John Des. Earl Pembroke and Baron Manny extinct.

His claim was contested by Reginald Grey 3rd Baron Grey Ruthyn (age 27) who was the son of Elizabeth Hastings Baroness Grey Ruthyn daughter of John Hastings 13th Baron Bergavenny 1st Baron Hastings his case being that he was of the full blood whereas John Hastings 6th Baron Hastings (age 61) was of the half-blood ie Reginald Grey 3rd Baron Grey Ruthyn (age 27), like John Hastings 3rd Earl Pembroke (age 17), was descended from John Hastings 13th Baron Bergavenny 1st Baron Hastings and Isabel Valence Baroness Bergavenny Baroness Hastings, whereas John Hastings 6th Baron Hastings (age 61) was descended from John Hastings 13th Baron Bergavenny 1st Baron Hastings and Isabel Despencer Baroness Hastings and Bergavenny.
