On 08 Jan 1297 John Gerulfing I Count Holland (age 13) and [his mother] Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland (age 14) were married at Ipswich, Suffolk [Map]. She by marriage Countess Holland. The wedding was attended by her sister [his aunt] Margaret Plantagenet Duchess Brabant (age 21), her father [his grandfather] King Edward I (age 57), her brother [his uncle] Edward (age 12) and her future second husband [his father] Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex (age 21). She the daughter of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England (age 57) and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England. He the son of Floris Gerulfing V Count Holland and Beatrix Dampierre.

On 31 Dec 1298 [his grandfather] Humphrey Bohun 3rd Earl Hereford 2nd Earl Essex (age 49) died. He was buried at Waldon Priory and Abbey [Map]. His son [his father] Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex (age 22) succeeded 4th Earl Hereford, 3rd Earl Essex.

On 14 Nov 1302 [his father] Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex (age 26) and [his mother] Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland (age 20) were married. She by marriage Countess Essex, Countess Hereford. Westminster Abbey [Map]. She the daughter of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England (age 63) and Eleanor of Castile Queen Consort England. He the son of Humphrey Bohun 3rd Earl Hereford 2nd Earl Essex and Maud Fiennes Countess Essex and Hereford. They were third cousins.

Around 1307 John Bohun 5th Earl Hereford 4th Earl Essex was born to Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex (age 31) and Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland (age 24). He a grandson of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England.

Before 1316 Henry Hussey 2nd Baron Hussey (age 24) and [his future sister-in-law] Katherine Fitzalan (age 9) were married. She the daughter of Edmund Fitzalan 9th Earl Arundel (age 30) and Alice Warenne Countess Arundel. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King John "Lackland" of England.

On 05 May 1316 [his sister] Isabel Bohun was born to [his father] Humphrey Bohun 4th Earl Hereford 3rd Earl Essex (age 40) and [his mother] Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland (age 33). His mother Princess Elizabeth of Rhuddlan Countess Essex, Hereford and Holland (age 33) died in childbirth. She was buried at Waldon Priory and Abbey [Map]. She a granddaughter of King Edward "Longshanks" I of England.

Battle of Boroughbridge

                    On 16 Mar 1322 the rebel army led by Thomas Plantagenet 2nd Earl of Leicester, 2nd Earl Lancaster, Earl of Salisbury and Lincoln (age 44) attempted to cross the bridge over the River Ure (between Ripon and York) at Boroughbridge Bridge [Map]. Their path was blocked by forces loyal to the King led by Andrew Harclay 1st Earl Carlisle (age 52). Bartholomew Badlesmere 1st Baron Badlesmere (age 46), Roger Mortimer 1st Earl March (age 34), John Botetort 1st Baron Botetort (age 57) and John Maltravers 1st Baron Maltravers (age 32) fought for the rebels. Roger Clifford 2nd Baron Clifford (age 22), Nicholas Longford (age 37), Thomas Plantagenet 2nd Earl of Leicester, 2nd Earl Lancaster, Earl of Salisbury and Lincoln (age 44), John Mowbray 2nd Baron Mowbray (age 35) were captured.                

                    Warin Lisle (age 51) was hanged after the battle at Pontefract [Map].                

                    Following the battle Hugh Audley 1st Earl Gloucester (age 31) and his wife Margaret Clare Countess Gloucester were both imprisoned. He in Nottingham Castle [Map] and she in Sempringham Priory [Map].                

                    John Clinton 2nd Baron Clinton (age 22), Ralph Greystoke 1st Baron Greystoke (age 22), William Latimer 2nd Baron Latimer of Corby (age 46), Robert Lisle 1st Baron Lisle (age 34), Domhnall Mar II Earl Mar (age 29) and Peter Saltmarsh (age 42) fought for the King.                

                    Adam Everingham 1st Baron Everingham of Laxton (age 43) was captured.

In 1326 [his wife] Alice Fitzalan Countess Essex and Hereford died.

After 03 Dec 1329 Gerard Lisle 1st Baron Lisle (age 25) and [his former sister-in-law] Eleanor Fitzalan (age 9) were married. She the daughter of Edmund Fitzalan 9th Earl Arundel and Alice Warenne Countess Arundel. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King John "Lackland" of England.

On 20 Jan 1336 John Bohun 5th Earl Hereford 4th Earl Essex (age 29) died. His brother [his brother] Humphrey Bohun 6th Earl Hereford 5th Earl Essex (age 27) succeeded 6th Earl Hereford, 5th Earl Essex.

After 1347 [his former wife] Margaret Basset Countess Essex and Hereford died.
