He was created Duke Cornwall and Duke Rothesay the same day.
Around 1657 Charles "Don Carlo" Fitzcharles 1st Earl Plymouth was born illegitimately to King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 26) and Catherine Pegge (age 22).
On 21 May 1662 [his father] King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 31) and Catherine of Braganza Queen Consort England (age 23) were married at Portsmouth, Hampshire [Map]. She by marriage Queen Consort England. She the daughter of John IV King Portugal and Luisa de Guzman Queen Consort Portugal (age 48). He the son of King Charles I of England, Scotland and Ireland and Henrietta Maria Bourbon Queen Consort England (age 52).
On 28 Jul 1675 Charles "Don Carlo" Fitzcharles 1st Earl Plymouth (age 18) was created 1st Earl Plymouth, 1st Viscount Totnes, 1st Baron Dartmouth.
In 1678 Thomas Otway (age 25) obtained a commission through Charles, Earl of Plymouth (age 21) in a regiment serving in the Netherlands. The English troops were disbanded in 1679, but were left to find their way home as best they could. They were paid with depreciated paper, and Otway arrived in London late in the year, ragged and dirty.
On 19 Sep 1678 Charles "Don Carlo" Fitzcharles 1st Earl Plymouth (age 21) and Bridget Osborne Countess Plymouth were married in Wimbledon, Surrey. She by marriage Countess Plymouth. She the daughter of Thomas Osborne 1st Duke Leeds (age 46) and Bridget Bertie Duchess Leeds (age 49). He the illegitmate son of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland (age 48) and Catherine Pegge (age 43).
Evelyn's Diary. 19 Sep 1679. My Lord Sunderland (age 38), one of the principal Secretaries of State, invited me to dinner, where was the King's (age 49) natural son, the Earl of Plymouth (age 22), the Earl of Shrewsbury, Earl of Essex (age 47), Earl of Mulgrave (age 31), Mr. Hyde, and Mr. Godolphin (age 34). After dinner I went to prayers at Eton College [Map], and visited Mr. Henry Godolphin (age 31), fellow there, and Dr. Craddock.
On 17 Oct 1680 Charles "Don Carlo" Fitzcharles 1st Earl Plymouth (age 23) died of dysentery at Tangier during the Siege of Tangier. Earl Plymouth, Viscount Totnes and Baron Dartmouth extinct.
On 18 Jan 1681 Charles "Don Carlo" Fitzcharles 1st Earl Plymouth was buried at Westminster Abbey [Map].
