Alabaster altar-tomb and effigy, altar-tomb with moulded base and capping, sides and ends panelled with alternate quatrefoils enclosing shields of his arms and trefoil-headed panels; effigy in bascinet, camail, jupon with same arms as shields, hip-belt, garter on left leg, right leg modern, head on helm crested with a bush of feathers, feet on hound.

He wearing a bascinet with orle with IHC lettering. Both wearing a Lancastrian Esses Collar. Leg Garter below the left knee.

Both wearing their ducal coronets. He wearing a Leg Garter. His head resting on a great helm with Saracen's Head Crest, feet resting on a Lion.

Tudor Period. Monument. Leg Garter. Feet resting on Manticore. The Manticore being the badge of the Hasting's family. Alabaster chest tomb and his wife. Two alabaster effigies are on a tomb chest with shields and weepers. The. Monument was `restored' in 1698 by the 6th Earl when it was placed against the wall beneath a mural. Monument with armorial bearings. It was moved back to the centre of the chapel after 1837.

On 17 Sep 1563 Henry Manners 2nd Earl Rutland 1526-1563 (36) died. His son Edward Manners 3rd Earl Rutland 1549-1587 (14) succeeded 3rd Earl Rutland (3C 1525), 14th Baron Ros Helmsley.

Monument an unusual Table Tomb with their effigies beneath surmounted by effigies of their children, and the Arms of Manners and Neville. He wearing a Leg Garter.

William Cecil (77) was buried at St Martin's Church, Stamford. Large free-standing. Monument under the north chapel arch, in coloured marbles with a figure on tomb chest under an arched canopy supported on paired columns. Attributed to Cornelius Cure Sculptor -1607. The emblem of the Knights of the Garter on William's left shoulder. Leg Garter. In his right-hand he is holding the Lord Treasurer Staff of Office; originally white.

Wrist Garter

On 20 May 1475 Alice Chaucer Duchess Suffolk 1404-1475 (71) died. She was buried at St Mary's Church, Ewelme. Wrist Garter. The effigy was, apparently, viewed to determine how a lady should wear the garter at the re-commencement of Lady of the Garter appointments in 1901 after a gap of several hundred years. A particularly fine Cadaver Underneath the chest on which Alice's effigy lies. Full-length in a shroud.
