A charter of free warren was granted 37th Henry III. to a Sir John d'Abernoun, for his demesne land in the manors of Stoke d'Abernoun and Fetcham, in the county above mentioned. The subject of this effigy in Stoke d'Abernoun church was his son, who died in 1327.
