Biography of Bishop John Still 1543-1608

Around 1534 Bishop John Still was born at Grantham [Map]. He was educated at the The King's School, Grantham [Map] and Christ's College, Cambridge University [Map].

In 1574 Bishop John Still (age 40) was appointed Master of St John's College, Cambridge University [Map].

In 1576 Bishop John Still (age 42) was appointed Archdeacon of Sudbury which position he held until 1593.

In or before 1577 Bishop John Still (age 43) and Anne Alabaster were married.

In 1577 Bishop John Still (age 43) was appointed Master of Trinity College, Cambridge University [Map].

In May 1577 Archdeacon John Mullins was collated to the rectory of Bocking, Essex [Map]. In Oct 1583 he was made Dean of Bocking, Essex [Map] along with Bishop John Still (age 43).

In 1579 [his son] Nathaniel Still was born to Bishop John Still (age 45) and [his wife] Anne Alabaster.

In 1592 [his wife] Anne Alabaster died.

In 1593 Bishop John Still (age 59) was appointed Bishop of Bath and Wells.

On 26 Feb 1608 Bishop John Still (age 74) died.
