Biography of Joan Kirkeby -1576

Joan Kirkeby was born to William Kirkeby of London and Alice Whetthill.

In or before 1504 Henry Luddington and Joan Kirkeby were married.

In 1504 [her daughter] Jane Luddington was born to [her husband] Henry Luddington and Joan Kirkeby.

In 1523 [her daughter] Anne Luddington was born to [her husband] Henry Luddington and Joan Kirkeby.

Before 1531 Henry Loddington and Joan Kirkeby were married.

In 1531 [her husband] Henry Loddington died. He had made [her future husband] William Laxton (age 31) overseer of his will. His widow Joan Kirkeby subsequently married William Laxton (age 31).

Before 1539 William Laxton (age 39) and Joan Kirkeby were married.

After Apr 1552 [her son-in-law] Thomas Lodge (age 43) and [her daughter] Anne Luddington (age 29) were married.

On 27 Jul 1556 [her husband] William Laxton (age 56) died. He was buried at Church of St Mary Aldermary. [her son-in-law] Thomas Lodge (age 47) and his brother-in-law [her future son-in-law] John Machel (age 54) were principal mourners at his funeral. Both were overseer's of Laxton's will.

Before 12 Aug 1558 [her son-in-law] John Machel (age 56) and [her daughter] Jane Luddington (age 54) were married.

Henry Machyn's Diary. 25 May 1559. The thursday the xxv day of May master John Whyt altherman and grocer ys chyld was cristened in lytyll sant Barthelmuw be-syd sant Antonys; thes wher the god-fathers' names, my lord marques of Wynchester (age 76) now lord tresorer of England, and my lord byshope of Wynchester docthur Whytt (age 49), and the god-moder my lade Laxtun, lat the wyffe of ser [her former husband] Wylliam Laxtun latt mare of London and grocer; and after ther was waferers [wafers] and epocras grett plente; and after they whent home to the plasse, with the chyld nam(ed) John Whytt; the wyche wyff was master Raff Grenway altherman and grocer of London wyff.

On 28 Apr 1565 [her daughter] Jane Luddington (age 61) died.

Before 10 Sep 1576 Joan Kirkeby died. She was buried at Church of St Mary Aldermary.
