On 04 Jan 1803 the first steamboat, the Charlotte Dundas, first sailing was on the canal in Glasgow with Thomas Dundas 1st Baron Dundas (age 61), who commissioned its construction, and a few of his relatives and friends on board. The boat was designed and built by William Symington and John Allan, respectively, and the engine by the Carron Company.

Before 1807 [his son-in-law] Charles Wentworth-Fitzwilliam 5th and 3rd Earl Fitzwilliam (age 20) and [his daughter] Mary Dundas (age 19) were married. He the son of William Fitzwilliam 4th and 2nd Earl Fitzwilliam (age 58) and Charlotte Ponsonby Countess Fitzwilliam. They were first cousins.

She the daughter of Aubrey Beauclerk 5th Duke St Albans and Catherine Ponsonby Duchess St Albans. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 25 Jan 1810 [his son] Charles Lawrence Dundas (age 38) died.

On 04 May 1814 [his son-in-law] John Charles Ramsden (age 26) and [his daughter] Isabella Dundas (age 24) were married.

On 08 Dec 1819 [his sister-in-law] Anne Fitzwilliam (age 74) died.
