Biography of Bartholomew Bouverie 1753-1835

Paternal Family Tree: Bouverie

On 14th January 1748 [his father] William Pleydell-Bouverie 1st Earl Radnor (age 22) and Harriet Pleydell were married.

On 5th September 1751 [his father] William Pleydell-Bouverie 1st Earl Radnor (age 26) and [his mother] Rebecca Alleyne Viscountess Folkestone (age 25) were married.

On 29th October 1753 Bartholomew Bouverie was born to William Pleydell-Bouverie 1st Earl Radnor (age 28) and Rebecca Alleyne Viscountess Folkestone (age 28).

On 4th May 1764 [his mother] Rebecca Alleyne Viscountess Folkestone (age 38) died.

On 28th January 1776 [his father] William Pleydell-Bouverie 1st Earl Radnor (age 50) died. His son [his half-brother] Jacob (age 25) succeeded 2nd Earl Radnor, 3rd Viscount Folkestone, 3rd Baron Longford, 5th Baronet Bouverie of St Catherine Cree Church in London.

In 1779 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 25) and Mary Arundell (age 22) were married. He the son of William Pleydell-Bouverie 1st Earl Radnor and Rebecca Alleyne Viscountess Folkestone.

In December 1779 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 26) was elected MP Downton, but was unseated on petition already in February of the following year.

In 1790 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 36) was elected MP Downton which seat he held until 1796.

On 14th October 1790 [his daughter] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden was born to Bartholomew Bouverie (age 36) and [his wife] Mary Arundell (age 33).

In 1806 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 52) was elected MP Downton which seat he held until 1812.

In 1808 [his son-in-law] Archibald Primrose 4th Earl Rosebery (age 24) and [his daughter] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden (age 17) were married. He the son of Neil Primrose 3rd Earl Rosebery (age 79) and Mary Vincent Countess Rosebery (age 55).

On 7th August 1809 [his future son-in-law] Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet (age 22) and [his daughter] Charlotte Bouverie were married. He would later marry her sister [his daughter] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden (age 18); an example of Married to Two Siblings.

In 1810 [his grandson] Henry St John-Mildmay 5th Baronet was born to [his future son-in-law] Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet (age 22) and [his daughter] Charlotte Bouverie. His mother died in childbirth.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." His brother [his future son-in-law] Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet (age 25) had been married to her sister [his daughter] Charlotte Bouverie, and would, in 1815 marry another sister, [his daughter] Harriet (age 22); Marriage of Two Sets of Siblings.

In 1815 [his son-in-law] Henry St John-Mildmay 4th Baronet (age 27) and [his daughter] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden (age 24) were married. She the sister of his first wife [his daughter] Charlotte Bouverie; an example of Married to Two Siblings. Further, his brother [his son-in-law] Paulet St John-Mildmay (age 23) had two years before, in 1813, marry [his daughter] Anna Maria Wyndham Bouverie, sister of Harriet and Charlotte; Marriage of Two Sets of Siblings. Further still, Harriet, Charlotte and Anna Maria's first cousin William Pleydell-Bouverie 3rd Earl Radnor (age 35) married Henry and Paulet's sister Judith (age 24).

In 1819 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 65) was elected MP Downton which seat he held until Jun 1826.

In 1826 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 72) was elected MP Downton which seat he held until 1830.

On 22nd February 1832 [his wife] Mary Arundell (age 75) died.

On 9th December 1834 [his daughter] Harriett Bouverie Countess Camden (age 44) died.

On 31st May 1836 Bartholomew Bouverie (age 82) died.

[his daughter] Charlotte Bouverie was born to Bartholomew Bouverie and Mary Arundell.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.
