Biography of Bishop Richard Bagot 1782-1854

On 20th August 1760 [his father] William Bagot 1st Baron Bagot [aged 32] and [his mother] Elizabeth St John Baroness Bagot were married.

On 22nd November 1782 Bishop Richard Bagot was born to [his father] William Bagot 1st Baron Bagot [aged 54] and [his mother] Elizabeth St John Baroness Bagot.

On 22nd October 1798 [his father] William Bagot 1st Baron Bagot [aged 70] died. His son [his brother] William [aged 25] succeeded 2nd Baron Bagot of Bagot's Bromley in Staffordshire, 7th Baronet Bagot of Blithfield Hall. [his future sister-in-law] Emily Fitzroy Baroness Bagot [aged 27] by marriage Baroness Bagot of Bagot's Bromley in Staffordshire.

On 30th May 1799 [his brother] William Bagot 2nd Baron Bagot [aged 25] and [his sister-in-law] Emily Fitzroy Baroness Bagot [aged 28] were married.

In 1806 Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 23] and Harriet Villiers [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey and Frances Twysden [aged 52]. They were fifth cousin once removed.

On 17th February 1807 [his brother] William Bagot 2nd Baron Bagot [aged 33] and [his sister-in-law] Louisa Legge Baroness Bagot [aged 19] were married. She by marriage Baroness Bagot of Bagot's Bromley in Staffordshire. She the daughter of George Legge 3rd Earl Dartmouth [aged 51] and Frances Finch Countess Dartmouth [aged 46]. They were second cousin once removed.

In 1810 [his son] Villiers Bagot died.

On 12th July 1810 [his son] Vice-Admiral Henry Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 27] and [his wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 22]. He married (1) 17th November 1846 his first cousin Wilhemina Frederica Bagot (2) 9th February 1858 Eleanor Chandos-Pole and had issue.

On 29th November 1810 Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 42] and [his sister-in-law] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 35] were divorced by an act of Parliament as a result of his having had an affair with Charlotte Cadogan Marchioness Anglesey [aged 29] whose husband Henry Wellesley 1st Baron Cowley [aged 37] also sought a divorce.

On 29th November 1810, a month after her divorce, George William Campbell 6th Duke Argyll [aged 42] and [his sister-in-law] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 35] were married at Canongate Kirk. She by marriage Duchess Argyll. She the daughter of George Bussy Villiers 4th Earl Jersey and [his mother-in-law] Frances Twysden [aged 57]. He the son of John Campbell 5th Duke Argyll and Elizabeth Gunning Duchess Hamilton and Argyll.

On 11th February 1812 [his son] Reverend Charles Walter Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 29] and [his wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 24].

On 26th July 1816 [his daughter] Harriet Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 33] and [his wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 28]. She married 18th July 1837 her fourth cousin Charles Thynne, son of Thomas Thynne 2nd Marquess of Bath and Isabella Elizabeth Byng Marchioness Bath, and had issue.

In 1819 [his daughter] Frances Caroline Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 36] and [his wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 31].

In 1821 [his son] Richard Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 38] and [his wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 33].

In 1822 Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 39] was appointed Canon Chapel Royal Windsor.

In 1829 Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 46] was appointed Bishop of Oxford.

On 16th June 1835 [his sister-in-law] Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 60] died.

On 18th July 1837 [his son-in-law] Charles Thynne [aged 24] and Harriet Bagot [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 54] and Harriet Villiers [aged 49]. He the son of Thomas Thynne 2nd Marquess of Bath and Isabella Elizabeth Byng Marchioness Bath. They were fourth cousins.

In 1840 [his daughter] Frances Caroline Bagot [aged 21] died.

In 1840 [his son] Richard Bagot [aged 19] died.

In 1843 [his son-in-law] William Henry Dawnay 7th Viscount Downe [aged 30] and Mary Isabel Bagot were married. She the daughter of Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 60] and Harriet Villiers [aged 55].

In 1845 Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 62] was appointed Bishop of Bath and Wells.

On 17th November 1846 Vice-Admiral Henry Bagot [aged 36] and Wilhemina Frederica Bagot were married. He the son of Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 63] and Harriet Villiers [aged 58]. They were first cousins.

In 1850 [his son-in-law] George Thomas Orlando Bridgeman [aged 26] and Emily Mary Bagot were married. She the daughter of Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 67] and Harriet Villiers [aged 62]. He the son of George Bridgeman 2nd Earl Bradford [aged 60] and Georgina Elizabeth Moncrieffe Countess Bradford.

On or after 7th December 1853 [his daughter] Emily Mary Bagot died.

On 15th May 1854 Bishop Richard Bagot [aged 71] died.

In 1870 [his former wife] Harriet Villiers [aged 82] died.

[his daughter] Mary Isabel Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot and Harriet Villiers. She married 1843 William Henry Dawnay 7th Viscount Downe and had issue.

[his son] Edward Richard Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot and Harriet Villiers.

[his son] Villiers Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot and Harriet Villiers.

[his daughter] Emily Mary Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot and Harriet Villiers. She married 1850 George Thomas Orlando Bridgeman, son of George Bridgeman 2nd Earl Bradford and Georgina Elizabeth Moncrieffe Countess Bradford, and had issue.

[his son] Frederick Bagot cleric Bagot was born to Bishop Richard Bagot and Harriet Villiers.
