On 12th December 1837 Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom was born to Richard Bootle-Wilbraham (age 36) and Jessy Brooke in Blythe Hall, Lathom.
On 5th May 1844 [his father] Richard Bootle-Wilbraham (age 42) died of influenza.
On 3rd April 1853 [his grandfather] Edward Bootle-Wilbraham 1st Baron Skelmersdale died. His grandson Edward (age 15) succeeded 2nd Baron Skelmersdale in Lancashhire.
On 17th August 1860 Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom (age 22) and Alice Villiers Countess Lathom (age 19) were married. She the daughter of George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 60) and Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon (age 50).
On 31st May 1864 Frederick Arthur Stanley 16th Earl of Derby (age 23) and [his sister-in-law] Constance Villiers Countess Derby (age 24) were married. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 64) and [his mother-in-law] Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon (age 54). He the son of Edward Smith-Stanley 14th Earl of Derby (age 65) and [his aunt] Emma Caroline Bootle-Wilbraham Countess Derby (age 59).
On 25th October 1864 [his son] Edward George Bootle Wibraham 2nd Earl Lathom was born to Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom (age 26) and [his wife] Alice Villiers Countess Lathom (age 23).
On 27th June 1870 [his father-in-law] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon (age 70) died. His son [his brother-in-law] Edward (age 24) succeeded 5th Earl Clarendon, 5th Baron Hyde of Hindon in Wiltshire 1756.
On 6th September 1876 [his brother-in-law] Edward Villiers 5th Earl Clarendon (age 30) and Caroline Elizabeth Agar Countess Clarendon (age 19) were married at Harbridge, Someroy. She by marriage Countess Clarendon. She the daughter of James Charles Agar 3rd Earl Normanton (age 57) and Caroline Susan Augusta Barrington Countess Normanton (age 41). He the son of [his father-in-law] George William Villiers 4th Earl Clarendon and [his mother-in-law] Katherine Grimston Countess Clarendon. They were sixth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
In 1880 Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom (age 42) was created 1st Earl Lathom. [his wife] Alice Villiers Countess Lathom (age 39) by marriage Countess Lathom.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." On 15th August 1889 [his son] Edward George Bootle Wibraham 2nd Earl Lathom (age 24) and [his daughter-in-law] Wilma Pleydell-Bouverie Countess Lathom (age 19) were married. She the daughter of William Pleydell-Bouverie 5th Earl Radnor (age 48) and Helen Matilda Chaplin Countess Radnor (age 43). He the son of Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom (age 51) and [his wife] Alice Villiers Countess Lathom (age 48). They were second cousins.
On 18th July 1892 [his mother] Jessy Brooke died.

On 19th November 1898 Edward Bootle Wibraham 1st Earl Lathom (age 60) died. His son [his son] Edward (age 34) succeeded 2nd Earl Lathom, 3rd Baron Skelmersdale in Lancashhire. [his daughter-in-law] Wilma Pleydell-Bouverie Countess Lathom (age 29) by marriage Countess Lathom.
