Deeds of King Henry V

Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

Elizabeth Scales Countess Rivers was born to [her father] Thomas Scales 7th Baron Scales and [her mother] Ismayne Whalesburgh Baroness Scales.

In 1418 [her uncle] Robert Scales 6th Baron Scales [aged 23] died. His brother [her father] Thomas [aged 21] succeeded 7th Baron Scales.

Before 1460 [her father] Thomas Scales 7th Baron Scales [aged 62] and [her mother] Ismayne Whalesburgh Baroness Scales were married. She by marriage Baroness Scales.

Murder of Lord Scales

On 20th July 1460 [her father] Thomas Scales 7th Baron Scales [aged 63] was murdered by boatmen whilst travelling from the Tower of London [Map] to Sanctuary, Westminster Abbey [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth succeeded 8th Baroness Scales. She was, or had been married to, [her future husband] Henry Bourchier (the year of his death may been 1458). She was in 1466 married to Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers [aged 20], brother of King Edward IV's [aged 18] wife Elizabeth Woodville Queen Consort England [aged 23]; an example of the Woodville family marrying rich heiresses.

In or before 1462 Henry Bourchier and Elizabeth Scales Countess Rivers were married. He the son of Henry Bourchier 2nd Count of Eu 1st Earl Essex [aged 57] and Isabel York Countess Eu and Essex [aged 52]. They were half fourth cousin twice removed. He a great x 2 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward I of England.

In 1462 [her husband] Henry Bourchier died.

After 1st May 1464 Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers [aged 24] and Elizabeth Scales Countess Rivers were married. He by marriage Baron Scales. See Woodville Marriages. He the son of Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers [aged 59] and Jacquetta of Luxemburg Duchess Bedford [aged 49].

Coronation of Elizabeth Woodville

On 26th May 1465 [her sister-in-law] Elizabeth Woodville Queen Consort England [aged 28] was crowned Queen Consort England by Cardinal Thomas Bourchier [aged 47] at Westminster Abbey [Map].

King Edward IV of England [aged 23] attended.

John Cheney 1st Baron Cheyne [aged 23], [her husband] Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers [aged 25], [her brother-in-law] Richard Woodville 3rd Earl Rivers [aged 12] and William Calthorpe [aged 55] were created Knight of the Bath.

Elizabeth Tilney Countess of Surrey [aged 21] carried her train.

Richard Choke [aged 45] was created Knight of the Bath.

In 1466 Henry Stafford 2nd Duke of Buckingham [aged 11] and [her sister-in-law] Catherine Woodville Duchess Buckingham and Bedford [aged 8] were married. She by marriage Duchess of Buckingham. On 17th February 1466 Thomas Fitzalan 10th or 17th Earl of Arundel [aged 16] and [her sister-in-law] Margaret Woodville Countess Arundel [aged 12] were married. See Woodville Marriages. She the daughter of [her father-in-law] Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers [aged 61] and [her mother-in-law] Jacquetta of Luxemburg Duchess Bedford [aged 51]. He the son of William Fitzalan 9th or 16th Earl of Arundel [aged 48] and Joan Neville Countess Arundel.

24th July 1469 Battle of Edgecote Moor aka Danes Moor aka Banbury

On 27th July 1469 William Herbert 1st Earl Pembroke [aged 46] was executed following his capture at the Battle of Edgecote Moor. His son William [aged 18] succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke, 2nd Baron Herbert of Raglan. [her sister-in-law] Mary Woodville Countess Pembroke and Huntingdon [aged 13] by marriage Countess Pembroke.

Execution of the Woodvilles

On 12th August 1469 Woodvilles father and son were beheaded at Kenilworth Castle [Map] by supporters of Richard "Kingmaker" Neville Earl Warwick, 6th Earl Salisbury [aged 40].

[her father-in-law] Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers [aged 64] was beheaded. His son [her husband] Anthony [aged 29] succeeded 2nd Earl Rivers, 2nd Baron Rivers. Elizabeth Scales Countess Rivers by marriage Countess Rivers.

[her brother-in-law] John Woodville [aged 24] was beheaded.

On 2nd September 1473 Elizabeth Scales Countess Rivers died. Baron Scales extinct.

Before October 1480 [her former husband] Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers [aged 40] and Mary Fitzlewis Countess Rivers [aged 15] were married. She by marriage Countess Rivers. The difference in their ages was 25 years. He the son of [her former father-in-law] Richard Woodville 1st Earl Rivers and [her former mother-in-law] Jacquetta of Luxemburg Duchess Bedford.

Execution of the Yorkists and their Affinity

On 25th June 1483 supporters of the Woodvilles were executed at Pontefract Castle [Map]..

[her former husband] Anthony Woodville 2nd Earl Rivers [aged 43] was beheaded. His brother [her former brother-in-law] Richard [aged 30] succeeded 3rd Earl Rivers, 3rd Baron Rivers.

Richard Grey [aged 26] and Thomas Vaughan [aged 73] were beheaded.
