Biography of Horace Rumbold 9th Baronet 1869-1941

On 5th February 1869 Horace Rumbold 9th Baronet was born.

The London Gazette 24772. Foreign Office, October 10, 1879. The Queen has been graciously pleased to appoint Sir Horace Rumbold (age 10), Bart., now Her Majesty's Minister Resident to the Swiss Confederation, to be Her Majesty's Envoy Extra ordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Argentine Republic.

The Queen has also been graciously pleased to appoint the Honourable Hussey Crespigny Vivian (age 45), C.B., now Her Majesty's Agent and Consul-General in Egypt, to be Her Majesty's Minister Resident to the Swiss Confederation.

The Queen has also been graciously pleased to appoint Edward Baldwin Malet (age 42), Esq., C.B. Minister Plenipotentiary in Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service, to be Her Majesty's Agent and Consul-General in Egypt.

On 18th July 1905 Horace Rumbold 9th Baronet (age 36) and Etheldred Constantia Fane were married.

Sir Horace George Montagu Rumbold (age 50), Bart., K.C.M.G., M.V.O., to be His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Poland;

Sir Ronald William Graham, K.C.M.G., C.B., to be His Majesty'si Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Her Majesty .the Queen of the Netherlands;

The Honourable Theo William Odo Villiers Russell (age 49), C.V.O., C.B., to be His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Swiss Confederation.

Colville Adrian de Rune Barclay, Esq., C.B.E., M.V.O., to be His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to His Majesty the King of Sweden;

The Honourable William Augustus Forbes Erskine (age 47), M.V.O., to be His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cuba;

The London Gazette 32125. [The following Notice is substituted for that published in the London Gazette of November 12, 1920, page 10953.]

At the Court at Buckingliam Palace, the 9th day of November, 1920. Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

This day Sir Horace George Montagu Rumbold (age 51), Bt., K.C.M.G., M.V.O., was, by His Majesty's command, appointed a Member of His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Right Honourable Earl Granville (age 56), G.C.V.O., K.C.M.G., to be His Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to His Majesty the King of the Belgians, and to be also His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg; and

The Right Honourable Sir Horace George Montagu Rumbold (age 59), Bart., G.C.M.G., M.V.O., to be His Majesty's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the German Reich

On 24th May 1941 Horace Rumbold 9th Baronet (age 72) died at his home in Tisbury, Wiltshire [Map].

On 23rd October 1964 [his former wife] Etheldred Constantia Fane died.
