John Cobham was born to John Cobham.
In 1362 [his father] John Cobham (age 43) died.
In 1378 John Cobham was elected MP Sussex.
In January 1380 John Cobham was elected MP Surrey. He was re-elected in April and November 1384.
In 1383 John Cobham was granted a licence to crenellate Hever Castle, Kent [Map] by King Richard II of England (age 15)..
In 1385 John Cobham was elected MP Sussex.
In January 1390 John Cobham was elected MP Kent. he was re-elected in 1394 and September 1397.
In 1392 John Cobham was appointed a deputy to Thomas of Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester (age 36), as constable in the Court of Chivalry and accompanied Richard II (age 24) to Ireland as an Esquire of the Household.
On 12th November 1399 John Cobham died. He was buried under the belfry at St Peter's Church, Hever with his second wife Joan Lewknor and their son Reynold. His will reveals that he provided for £30 to be spent on his funeral and twenty poor men to stand vigil over his tomb for forty days. His heirs appear to have sold Hever Castle, Kent [Map] to Stephen Scrope (age 44).
