The Chronicle of Geoffrey le Baker of Swinbroke. Baker was a secular clerk from Swinbroke, now Swinbrook, an Oxfordshire village two miles east of Burford. His Chronicle describes the events of the period 1303-1356: Gaveston, Bannockburn, Boroughbridge, the murder of King Edward II, the Scottish Wars, Sluys, Crécy, the Black Death, Winchelsea and Poitiers. To quote Herbert Bruce 'it possesses a vigorous and characteristic style, and its value for particular events between 1303 and 1356 has been recognised by its editor and by subsequent writers'. The book provides remarkable detail about the events it describes. Baker's text has been augmented with hundreds of notes, including extracts from other contemporary chronicles, such as the Annales Londonienses, Annales Paulini, Murimuth, Lanercost, Avesbury, Guisborough and Froissart to enrich the reader's understanding. The translation takes as its source the 'Chronicon Galfridi le Baker de Swynebroke' published in 1889, edited by Edward Maunde Thompson. Available at Amazon in eBook and Paperback.

Around 1304 [her daughter] Katherine Hastings Baroness Stafford was born to [her future husband] John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny (age 17) and Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 1) at Chebsey, Staffordshire [Map].

In 1307 [her father] Thomas Leybourne died.

Before 20th March 1319 John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny (age 32) and Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 16) were married. She by marriage Baroness Hastings.

On 20th March 1319 [her son] Laurence Hastings 1st Earl Pembroke was born to [her husband] John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny (age 32) and Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 16) at Allesbury, Warwickshire.

On 20th January 1325 [her husband] John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny (age 38) died. His son [her son] Laurence (age 5) succeeded 3rd Baron Hastings, 14th Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation.

After 20th January 1325 Thomas Blount 1st Baron Blount (age 62) and Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 22) were married. The difference in their ages was 40 years.

Around 1326 [her son-in-law] Ralph Stafford 1st Earl Stafford (age 24) and [her daughter] Katherine Hastings Baroness Stafford (age 22) were married. She by marriage Baroness Stafford. She the daughter of [her former husband] John Hastings 2nd Baron Hastings 14th Baron Abergavenny and Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 23). They were fifth cousins.

Mortimer Double Marriage and Tournament

On 31st May 1328 the Mortimer family leveraged their new status at a lavish ceremony that celebrated the marriages of two of Roger Mortimer's (age 41) daughters at Hereford [Map].

King Edward III of England (age 15) and his mother Isabella of France Queen Consort England (age 33) attended as well as Roger Mortimer 1st Earl March.

The Deeds of King Henry V, or in Latin Henrici Quinti, Angliæ Regis, Gesta, is a first-hand account of the Agincourt Campaign, and subsequent events to his death in 1422. The author of the first part was a Chaplain in King Henry's retinue who was present from King Henry's departure at Southampton in 1415, at the siege of Harfleur, the battle of Agincourt, and the celebrations on King Henry's return to London. The second part, by another writer, relates the events that took place including the negotiations at Troye, Henry's marriage and his death in 1422.

On 16th March 1337 [her husband] William Clinton 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 33) was created 1st Earl Huntingdon. Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 34) by marriage Countess Huntingdon.

On 20th August 1348 [her son] Laurence Hastings 1st Earl Pembroke (age 29) died at Abergavenny Castle [Map]. He was buried at Abergavenny Priory [Map]. His son [her grandson] John succeeded 2nd Earl Pembroke, 4th Baron Hastings, 15th Baron Abergavenny Feudal Creation.

On 31st October 1354 [her husband] William Clinton 1st Earl Huntingdon (age 50) died. Earl Huntingdon extinct.

In 1367 Juliana Leybourne Countess Huntingdon (age 64) died.
