In 1536, two weeks after the execution of Anne Boleyn, her brother George and four others, Lancelot du Carle, wrote an extraordinary letter that described Anne's life, and her trial and execution, to which he was a witness. This book presents a new translation of that letter, with additional material from other contemporary sources such as Letters, Hall's and Wriothesley's Chronicles, the pamphlets of Wynkyn the Worde, the Memorial of George Constantyne, the Portuguese Letter and the Baga de Secrets, all of which are provided in Appendices.

Biography of Mortimer Wheeler 1890-1976

On 10th September 1890 Mortimer Wheeler was born to [his father] Robert Mortimer Wheeler and [his mother] Emily Baynes.

In May 1914 Mortimer Wheeler (age 23) and Tessa Verney (age 21) were married.

In 1931 Mortimer Wheeler (age 40) and Mabel aka Mabel Wright (age 23) were married. She was at the time the mistress of the painter Augustus John (age 52).

In 1936 [his father] Robert Mortimer Wheeler died.

On 15th April 1936 [his wife] Tessa Verney (age 43) died.

In March 1942 Mortimer Wheeler (age 51) and Mabel aka Mabel Wright (age 34) were divorced.

On 30th July 1954 Anthony Vivian 5th Baron Vivian (age 48) was shot in the abdomen by [his former wife] Mavis Wheeler (age 46), the former wife of both Sir Mortimer Wheeler (age 63) and Horace de Vere Cole, and the mistress of the painter Augustus John (age 76). She was subsequently jailed for six months.

In 1970 [his former wife] Mabel aka Mabel Wright (age 62) died.

On 22nd July 1976 Mortimer Wheeler (age 85) died.
